Grand Pacific Resorts already offers this discount.....but because of my South Africa purchase I don't need it as I am a member until 2012.....thanks for posting anyway.

Vri also gives you this discount. This discount is now open to all members No mater where you own. This can be consider good or bad. If you do not own a Vri or a GPR then it is good. If you do own at GPR or VRI it may look like one of your perks is now being shared.

Frank, do you know if this only applies to Weeks members or if it also applies to Points members? I don't need to extend my Weeks membership I do on the Points side.

As a VRI owner it's OK with me if others get the 3 for 2 price especially since RCI is going to get an additional $10 to $15 per exchange.

I really have not decided if even that perk is enough to make me re-up. I have 6 weeks more to decide. If the gang wants to go to Hawaii in 2008 then I will keep my money in my pocket and use Trading Places and PSE for inexpensive ( and in the case of PSE, free ) exchanges and NO membership fees.

Does anyone know if my membership has to be paid thru my last exchange dates?

            Lawren,

You are not allowed to request an exchange that is beyond your membership expiration...

I would say "hope this helps," but I know it doesn't.

Called RCI and the 3 for 2 only applies to Weeks members and not Points members

I was going to answer you that it was not included but I was not 100% sure of myself. I am Glad you called to clarify it.

With RCI constantly morphing into something different, will we even recognize the company in three years? Any extended membership with RCI is thus a gamble. For anyone still wanting to play the RCI game, it may be more cost effective to take it year by year, rather than wonder if and to what extent they may offer refunds in the future if their continued changes are not to your liking.

I too am not happy with RCI but it works the best for getting back into Smugglers, with the combination of red and white float weeks that we are assigned. I renewed a year or so ago which covers us for the next few years and gets us trades back into Smugglers.
RCI kept calling for renewal, and the prices kept changing. Each call was a different deal. Finally when I decided to renew, I talked them into a deal which worked out to $63 a yr. My thinking is, they will either extend this current deal or give it to you just to keep you around.

Good Strategy, reduce membership fee and raise exchange fees

                        Thanks, Frank!

Thanks, Frank. I called yesterday and renewed for the three years. The VC told me you could do it in multiples of 3 also. You saved me a couple of dollars and I appreciate the info. It can go towards the $175 service charge at MC in August!

Yes, it needs to be paid in order to do the exchange. You could always renew and then as soon as the exchange is over, cancel your membership and they will prorate your dues and refund the difference.

Yesterday, I called RCI to ask a question, and I was offered a 5 yr. re-up for something like $249. I'm not sure, because I have no intention of adding any more time with them, so I didn't pay much attention, but seemed to be about half the regular price. I thought it a bit strange...???
