This is my first post and i hope i am posting in the right thread
I am from India..
Lately i was considering buying a Blue membership in Club Mahindra (Rci affiliated)..
The sales representative was pursuing me a lot but i was insisting on more and more discounts and so she finally gives me the following

This is to confirm you the offer that apart from regular 1 week every year in the membership, in the offer we are providing you with 3 week additional from RCI.

Extra Holidays offer from RCI :
At a very advantageous price as less a often 10% of what the resort’s published room rates are.
i.e. ~ 90% discount

i asked for more clarifications and she sends me another email as below

Dear Sir,

As discussed :

1) Your eligibility for your 3 bonus weeks will be after your 3 emi’s are cleared

2) For any guest travelling on your behalf in club Mahindra is (Rs.1103/- in club Mahindra & Rs.2100/- in rci resorts)

3) Your bonus weeks are valid every year through rci for next coming 25 years if your card is renewed.

4) In bonus weeks you can take any type on apartments by paying the bonus week charges

5) Rci booking can be very easily done online

6) Rci bonus is available in any season

7) You can utilize all rci current resorts, as well as the upcoming resorts of rci



As you are taking a white studio (i asked for blue studio and she is ok with it) the down payment is 10% : Rs.27,500/- & as a part o9f special offer we are giving you :
Sony LCD – 26” or a cash back of Rs.10,000/-
In either cases the TV or the cash back comes to you after 45 days as soon as you 3 EMI’s are cleared.

the above two emails were send using the company email/domain..

If someone can guide me whether i should go for the membership or should opt out..
my sole purpose of buying the membership is (3bonus weeks at 90% discount anytime of the year for 25 yrs provided rci membership is renewed)

I would never buy white season unless there was no way I would ever be able to travel in Red season. There is at least one statement in what you wrote that is pure sales pitch and should be ignored completely in your decision making:

That statement is reallllly stretching the truth.

I did a quick check on the trade power of an April week at one of the Club Mahindra resorts. It was rated at 15 on a scale of 1 to 60. If you ever plan to deposit your week, your trade options will be limited at that trade power number.

If you like Club Mahindra and you think you will visit there during white season and be happy about the price you paid to do that, you should buy it. However, none of the RCI 'extras' should be part of what sways your decision to buy.

Also, always check the resale market for price comparison.

If you can, just back out of the contract. Vacationing based on the strategy of relying on RCI bonus week offering will backfire because it's not reliable. It can be done once a while, but not on a regular basis especially if your expectation is high.

kindly tell me whether i am wrong
i will be going for blue studio (i.e. 3500 usd)
down payment is 350 usd then have 60 months emi option (equated monthly installment) which will be around 70 usd per month..
first 3 emi if paid allows me to use rci network..
will use it to do a holiday in dubai and south africa in 1 or in 2 yrs
then will cancel the membership, since i havent use any holidays from clubmahindra, should get some amount as refund paid by me..
am i right or am i making no sense

Are you sure you can cancel this membership at some time in the future? Has this been promised to you by the salesperson? And that you will potentially get some money back?

Most timeshare contracts (at least in the US and Canada) cannot be cancelled after 7-10 days.

If you have been promised this, be sure that you get it IN WRITING.

they have mentioned it in the input form under "membership rules" that membership can be cancelled and full refund if cancelled within 10 days and after 10 days money will be refunded after deductions in print..

Signing that contract with the expectation that you will find what you want in the future in RCI is not a good idea. There are no guarantees. Have you looked for rentals in the places/times that you expect to get from RCI?
