Due to new product and service enhancements being introduced

RCI.com and our global call centers will be unavailable from 12:01am Eastern Standard Time Friday, October 14th through 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time Sunday, October 16th, 2011.
Normal business hours will resume Monday, October 17th, 2011.

The suspense is killing me. Maybe this is the "your exchange week plus cash" option? Some of us remember seeing that green button with $ on it and have been waiting for that shoe to drop. I wonder how much a TPU costs from them?

Any other guesses as to what treat we are in for from the evil empire?

It begs the question which is worse, "Being unavailable to show nothing is available or being available to show nothing is available?"

I was just thinking they should offer a point to everyone who submits a review of a resort they've stayed at recently.

They would have to check the reviews for "quality," of course, but I would write a review of every place I stay if I could get an extra TPU point for it!

Is this the first time they've given such a lead time on notice of an extended shutdown? Usually it's just a day or so ahead of time. Must be something big!

If anyone still gives RCI deposits maybe it is time to grab what you can while you can. Zero out your deposits.

Anytime I see the e-word, I cringe, but now it is only for others since I am using different exchange companies myself. ''Enhancement'' is corporate speak for screwing the customer, a real red flag of an Orwellian term. Those involved in airline frequent flyer programs in the last few years are particularly aware of it and what it really means.

Is RCI down already? I thought it was supposed to be midnight? They told me I have a match, via email, but I have to confirm by Sunday. That will be tricky since they don't open until Monday. Gotta love those guys.

The site announcement says it will be back up at 11:59AM on Sunday the 16th.

However we have seen them not be able to meet schedules when they are doing something big.

If you look at the Spanish, it says 23:59 Domingo which is 11:59 PM Sunday. This does not bode well for the competency of the update.

I briefly checked out the "new enhancements" at RCI, and from what I can see, it looks pretty nice. The photos have been enhanced, and the "Recommendation tab/You might like" on the right side of the page, make it a bit easier to see what's available in a particular area. Also, the tabs for "My Favorite Searches, Advanced Search, Resort Directory, etc.,etc., are now much easier to find.

I'm sure theres much more to discover...........


PS.....Having trouble finding "priority access?"

Oy.....You're right, what a difference from earlier today. Forget it, I don't have the patience. Too slow, and the site keeps freezing on me, too.
