Has anyone had experience with purchasing guest certificates? What I was wondering is, can I purchase a last minute vacation and a guest certificate for the same resort (ie two units) to be used at the same time? D.

A guest certificate only allows a week you have obtained from RCI to be used by another person. It could be an exchange or a getaway. It is not a unit or week in itself.
If you are going to be in one of the units, you can probably check into both and won't need the extra fee for the guest certificate.

I agree . . . I was going to be there, I would do both units in my name, with no Guest Certificate.

In order to book two units, you would need two reservations, exchange, getaway, whatever. If you are checking into one, most resorts will allow you to check into both and waive the Guest Certificate requirement for the people occupying the second unit.
As SWilshire said, the Guest Certificate is to allow someone other than you to check into a unit booked in your account.Comment

Thanks for the quick responses. I never even thought of booking two reservations for the same time. That sounds like the logical thing to do. I will try that route when we are thinking of booking, which is usually a last call vacation.

I did that twice last summer while traveling with family. When we checked in, the resort took the other parties credit card info for any charges to their unit. No GC was needed for the reservation.Originally posted by Glitter BrunelloComment

Ok, I will admit that no research has been done when asking this question but I figure best answers are gotten here. Adding to this thread because of the suitable title and it is related.
My question is, can a gift certificate be purchased in advance and given to someone allowing them to choose their own week? I know this may be a difficult question since it may be different for affiliates like BG and Wyndham vs a direct member.
The reason I am asking, is that of course when you pick a week you of course place on obligation on the receiver in a way to use it. This of course costs them some money OOP. I am considering a couple as gifts to friends and family members as money is not in abundance and have more weeks than I can use. This could be a great way to let others get advantage of some of the stuff I have (for example I may do the same thing with some DAE weeks I have).Comment
