So RCI has done it again

A few months ago I was able to grab a resort on Kauai that was in my search which RCI had not assigned to my ongoing search. I could not figure out WHY it was not assigned to my ongoing search except for the fact that RCI does not know what it is doing. So I have now had an ongoing search for another week starting on 8/31/12 at 2 specific resorts to extend my Kauai vacation. I have been checking, but nothing. Today, I went online, nothing on hold, but low and behold, I was able to search for the exact unit I want and have had an ongoing search for about 2 months. And it was up for grabs for anyone else to have, and I grabbed it. I don't get it! But thankfully, my Kauai plans are complete with 2 weeks back to back.

Good For You!!! About ten years ago, I had an ongoing search on in RCI. It had been ongoing for about a month with no results. We were just about to leave on vacation the year before, when I decided to check one last time ~ low & behold a unit matching my search came up in MY search ~ not RCI. Lesson learned ~ I'll do searching on my own thank you, (with a little help from my friends), because MY VACATION MEANS THE WORLD TO ME!!!

For over a decade RCI shut down it's webpage on a weekend to apply bubble gum and wire to it's pathetic system. Is anyone really surprised that it sometimes doesn't work right ? I'm surprised they didn't rent it instead.

Gosh, how many years have I been saying exactly that . . . only to be boo-hooed by the boo-hooers.

What's so hard to understand about what is is?

When we did Kauai, way back in the last century, we took two back-to-back weeks at the much-maligned Makai Club. Then, one at a time we switched to two bedroom units at LBR and the (FKA) Embassy at Poipu, both of which appeared in the 14-day window, using our original deposits for both.

I did not know it at the time, but that vacation became much more meaningful to me 10 years later.

Oh yeah, I forgot, things were not good way back then, so that had to be enhanced.

didja ever think that RCI is the ultimate FAILURE? I've been involved with them for over 20 years and cannot escape their financial grip on me.

Hmm, so you guys really don't like RCI huh? Can you help a new guy out with an Exchange company with the inventory RCI has and/or even as simple an exchange process as click/pay/go?

From what i can tell....none exist...I guess its easy to complain about the few bug's in the best exchange system available anywhere....That is, unless you compare it to any of the other failures out there

Hey, if you can recommend another place with anywhere near the exchange inventory....I respect that you have moral issues with RCI, but really, this is a textbook example of cutting off your nose to spite your face...

I'm not a fan of walmarts business practices...but sometimes the products i want can only be bought there

No exchange inventory only rentals.

I did just join RCI. I mostly joined because I heard about them having the most
Inventory but I was really disappointed to see that most of it was rentals.
