  • RCI Exchange

I don't use RCI very often, but we had an Extra Week Certificate that we had gotten that we were going to let one of our friends use. I have a few questions.

Exchange fee is $189. However, it lists a housekeeping fee for RCI Points reservations. I assume since this was an "extra week" that was booked on the weeks side of RCI, the housekeeping charge wouldn't apply? Strange that they would charge for a week using points but not for a week. I assume it has to do with points users being able to split the week resulting in the need for more housekeeping?

I noticed in my account it shows a coupon for $10? I have no idea what this is from, or how to apply it? Will this come off the exchange balance owed?

RCI appears to charge tax on the Extra Week exchange. I don't remember seeing the tax when I traded points for a week at Disney this winter? Is this something they only do for the Extra Week Certificate? I don't remember Interval doing this either.

Lastly, we are giving this to a good friend to use. If we purchase the Guest Certificate, it almost defeats the purpose of the Extra Week Certificate, as I imagine we would get close to the same price for a Getaway Week - although that may require a Guest Certificate as well. Anyone had any experience with contacting the resort ahead of time and letting them know someone else will be checking in? I can give them the Certificate and the confirmation. This is for the Vacation Village property in Vegas, by the way. Marriott is usually very good about this.

Thanks for any advice the RCI experts out there can provide.

This is fairly new, and I'm not certain if tax is added to all Extra Vacations or just some

I agree with your assessment that it reaches "not worth it" for certain things. Technically RCI requires a GC for all checkins other than you Anyone had any experience with contacting the resort ahead of time and letting them know someone else will be checking in? This is resort specific - some will let you call and add a name at the front desk, others will notI can give them the Certificate and the confirmation.
