  • Ongoing search and searching on your own?

Beware of Searching when you have an ongoing search.

I have 4 Deposits with RCI.

A combine Deposit with a trading power of 54 tied to an ongoing search.

A Deposit with a trading power of 24 with no ongoing search

A Deposit with a trading power of 4 (left over from an exchange)

A Deposit with a trading power of 22 with an ongoing search.

When you do a search on your own you have 2 ways of seeing what is available.

    1) Show all available RCI vacations

    2) Show vacations that match my deposits

The default way is no. 2.

In my case if I use no. 2, the resorts that come up are the Resorts with a trade value of 24 or less. The 54 trade value does not come into play because it is tied into an ongoing search.

If I click on the no. 1 way, the search is for anything has RCI has available.

The no. 2 statement should say "Show vactions that match my deposits that are not tied to an ongoing search."

PS. Also beware of putting a unit on hold for 24 hours with your ongoing search.

I put a unit on hold for 24 hours with my ongoing search with the trading power of 54 last night at 8:30 pm CST. At 4:11 am, RCI sent me an email "Your ongoing seach has been cancelled." Since I decided I didn't want the unit and didn't confirm it, RCI should not have cancelled the ongoing search. I called RCI to cancel the hold but RCI didn't have a record of the ongoing search. RCI put in the ongoing search again and they said it would not be a NEW search. However, I really have to way on knowing if I went to the back of the line because the search states, "Start Date N/A."

The first is an intermittent bug. Sometimes it will search with the units tied to an ongoing search, and sometimes it won't. I can't tell when is when, and have gotten into the habit of always switching to All Available.

The second has been the policy for some time---and, if you hold a unit with a deposit line that has an ongoing search, my recollection is that the web site requires you to click off a check box stating that you understand your ongoing search will be cancelled. I wish that was not how it works, but that is how it works. I believe you do get a new start date on re-initiation.
