  • RCI exchanges and Wyndham Housekeeping Fees

Just as we were thinking that costs couldn't get worse, RCI has added a new one.

Cloudy at best. I knew that they charged housekeeping for points reservations for under 7 night stays at all resorts and that made sense in a way. You are bringing in housekeeping off the normal schedules in a lot of cases.

It appears that they are now charging points reservations for any length including a full week.

Even better they are charging a week - week exchange the housekeeping fee as well! $75 on top of your maintenance fees, exchange fees, combination fees ( if required), local taxes if applicable, resort fees if applicable and guest fees if you want to send a family member in your stead.

Not all Wyndham resorts are showing this fee in urgent information. It's pretty nebulous across the half dozen properties I opened this morning but I would expect it to be in place for everything Wyndham pretty soon if it isn't already.

      about those house keeping fees

      Here are some examples:

      The majority state:

      Urgent Information
      Housekeeping Fees
For all RCI points reservations: 75.00 U.S. dollars for all units, per stay.

      Housekeeping Fees
For all RCI points reservations: 75 U.S. dollars for 1 Bedroom units, per stay.
For all RCI points reservations: 75 U.S. dollars for 2 Bedroom units, per stay.
For all RCI points reservations: 75.00 U.S. dollars for all units, per stay

      Housekeeping Fees
For all RCI points reservations: 75 U.S. dollars for all units, per stay.
The resort charges a US$75 cleaning fee for all less than 7 night reservations

      Resort Fees
Service Charge fee is $75 U.S. dollars.

Parking fee is US$10 U.S. dollars.

      Housekeeping Fees
For all RCI points reservations: There may be a 45.00 to 75.00 U.S. dollars for all units, per stay.

      Resort Fees
Service Charge fee is $75 U.S. dollars.

      Housekeeping Fees
For all RCI points reservations: 45 U.S. dollars for Studio, per stay.
$45 for Studio units (less than 7 night stays).
For all RCI points reservations: 75 U.S. dollars for 1 Bedroom units, per stay.
$75 for 1BR units (less than 7 night stays).
For all RCI points reservations: 75 U.S. dollars for 2 Bedroom units, per stay.
$75 for 2BR units (less than 7 night stays)
      Resort Fees
Parking fee is 26 per day U.S. dollars.

As you can see the majority say clearly Points or less than 7 nights BUT a few just say you are going to pay $75. I'm thinking wave of the future on all Wyndham weeks exchanges.

      The evil empire strikes again.

I just made an exchange with a week deposit, and have to pay the $75 fee.

You know Angela, I would print up the page and contest that. You are doing a weeks exchange and the resort info clearly states the charge is for points.

It is hard to tell at this time. There just isn't enough data.

We saw DRI really jack up the resort fees but it appears to be consistant across several exchange companies.

RCI charges housekeeping at Manhattan Club but SFX does not.

I think I would call. Did they charge you the $75 upon completing the exchange or is the fee paid at the resort?

BTW it was your post that has me looking at this. When there are no fun exchanges to post I go looking at things I put on the back burner.

A fee paid at the resort....From memory.....The notice said valet parking was $26 a day, I had to leave a credit card deposit (I want to say $100 a day, but can't swear to it) and a $75 housekeeping fee for the week.

Its possible that they haven't yet corrected the sheet to add weeks, or that they made a mistake. I will call, and let you know what they say.

I'm just reading my confirmation from RCI and I think I found the answer. Well, maybe I found the answer.

RCI is listing me as a "RCI Points PlatinumSM member." So, I'm guessing that even weeks ownership is considered "RCI points" when referring to fees.........Nowhere on my reservation is there a mention of "week" ownership. I think we're all "points" when it comes to fees.

That is down right sneaky. Points Light being subject to all the RCI Points fees.

I just got off the phone with RCI, and OY!

First she told me that I had to pay the fee. She was all over the place, and I kept disagreeing with her.

Long story short......We ended the conversation with her actually changing her mind and saying that as long as I stayed the entire week, I would NOT have to pay the fee.

She gave me the impression that the fee is only applied when you do not stay for the entire week.

                          Edited to add:

Yup, I found it, and it does state that the fee would only be applied if staying less than 7 nights: (less than 7 night stays)

That has always been the case in RCI points short stay scenarios.

Good I'm glad you won that battle but definately print the resort page that shows it is for points. Write down the name of who you spoke with. I'm betting the fee shows on your confirmation and this may come up again at check-out.

And speaking from recent experience, sometimes they forget to charge it for short stays as well. I never mentioned it at check in and was never charged it, so playing innocent may work.

My 3 day confirmation did say $75.
