  • Did RCI change their hold window?

I clearly remember having until the NEXT business day to confirm or release a held vacation.

Put something on hold very early this morning and was given until close of business today to confirm or it would be auto-released.

Granted it's been a while since I held anything but when did this go into effect?

I guess I don't remember back to the days when the good stuff came in at 3am. I always thought it was the next day.

I think I remember seeing that Disney could only be held until midnight day of and holds can't extend into the last 14 days before the exchange. I don't remember ever seeing other exceptions to day after.

I think the Disney exception was only rentals, not exchanges. I know I've held exchanges into the next business day in the past.

I searched the question on their website and could not find an answer.

It still is the end of the next business day. So if you're put something on hold at 3AM, you still have until midnight of the next day. That hasn't changed.

RCI changed the wording to end of the same day a few months ago. I was doing alot of searching then and noticed it.

That said, so far all my hold have indeed lasted until the end of the NEXT business day - and sometimes for longer than that. They could be transitioning to the short hold times... put the words in place to get us thinking to make decisions quicker and then actually start enforcing it later on. Kind of like Disney with the FastPasses now.

When I was searching for an answer on their site, I was thinking abiout putting something on Hold, to see what it says now, but I don't trust their site enough to do that. I don't wanna get stuck with something I don't want, just to get a question answered.

So, when you stop and think about that, and day you place the Hold, it could mean different things, didn't on what mean means.

I don't know if this is typical, but I recently had an ongoing search match and the potential exchange had a 3 day hold.

This does make sense and gives RCI the chance to notify the member that the search matched. The unit that matched was off 1 day from my requested exchange window so it wasn't an exact match, which might have an impact on the hold duration.
