I've just accessed the site using Firefox without any obvious problem. The only thing I find irritating is the requirement to click on 'Continue' to submit the search in Advanced Search. I much prefer simply to hit the Enter key.
That type of problem is not unique to the RCI site, I am seeing similar things on a number of sites recently.

If they could only do some meaningful changes like:

First of all spend just a fraction of the millions and millions of dollars of revenue on a decent web site. What they are waiting for I have no idea in the world. I can't believe they are totally incompetant so it must just be that they will not spend the money needed to do it right. Why they can't see that they would make more money with a well designed, easy to use web site defys all logic.

Create saved searches where you could save the searchs that you do over and over again without having to re-enter all the stuff each time.
What a novel idea... It's only computers we're using and they do know how to save things... It's called hire some programmers.

Cheaper prices to exchange instead of more... We all know these web-based exchanges require no time on any RCI's staff - why in the world should it cost more unless the only purpose is to gouge us "members" (I love how RCI uses that word). I'd have to say that member is a very poor term to describe us.
Why don't they see it? I have no experience with all the RCI web site frustration here, thank goodness, but I love the way Amazon.com works as you can save stuff there for as long as you like and don't have to start all over again. Why don't they learn from them? It makes so much sense as people would do more exchanges if the sytem works well and they have something available, of course!

        Not a Good Site (Again)

I spent the last hour on the new RCI.com, playing with dates to try to find some of the old trading glory.

It is not a very convenient site to use.

First, again, the way to enter the search date is stupid, unless I have been reading, writing and hearing dates wrong all my life. Why does Dec. 15 or 12/15 now have to be 12-DEC? I tried putting in the first of a month, using both 1 and 01, and it did not recognize it.

Next, what was wrong with the former system of entering beginning and ending search dates? We all know the window we want to plan for. What we don't know is exactly what date four weeks, seven weeks or ten weeks will take us to. What was accomplished by that change?

It can remember how many weeks I like to search for (5), but not that I want the list of resorts shown all on one page. Again, what is accomplished by listing only 10, or 25 on a page, when a person will want to look at all of them anyway. Why would you do a search and not want to see all that came up?That means for every search you either have to reset it to All or click it and wait for each page to load.

It is still faster to hit the Back browser button and then change what is screwed up than to use the modify search or begin new search buttons.

Although I have selected to see the list of resorts by location, sometimes it shows it alphabetically.

For whatever reason I have been selected to participate in a conference call with RCI, to get live feedback from members. For now that is scheduled for next Tuesday. Let me know if you have anything you would like me to bring up.

Has anyone else been contacted to do that?

Yesterday IG told me that there is a lot of pressure on right now to increase customer satisfaction.

          Increase customer satisfaction!

          Jim,

          That is hilarious!

All this time they've been going along with what seems to be a "let them eat cake" level of caring and now, NOW they give a damn? Well, RCI, good luck with that. The things that people were dissatisfied with have multiplied while fee increases continue! Just what satisfaction do they think they can salvage?

Please do join the conference call and give them your honest feedback.

I would be very interested in hearing what goes on during that call.

            Rci

I do not understand why you can't put in dates and just have all destinations pop up, ie:

II lets you put in Start date like July 22,2006 and End Date like July, 22, 2007 and everything available comes up....you can see all areas available for the year, look and decide when you want to go and where, then click on the area you are interested and bam!

YOu don't have to keep going back and putting in areas to search - heck I don't know where I want to go sometimes...and the areas are SOOOO split up....
I think II has got it right on the search feature.

Has anyone found a truly new feature?

              JLB,

I know you are a big daily searcher of RCI....

In your use of the new site, have you found anything meaningful other than the resort rating symbol next to the name that couldn't be found before? I know the look is a little slicker now... but I contend that this new site is just window dressing.... that there is nothing really new about the data gotten from this site. In fact it seems like you can do less than you could before.

There is no saved search function

You can only search for 10 weeks (mainframe can't handle more?)

One really bad thing is when you want to search against a different deposit, all the search criteria is lost and has to be re-entered again. At least the previous site could do this.

I think RCI thought they could put one over on us by just changing the web site look and acting like they were doing a big improvement. Like we would be fooled. My contention is that they are just too cheap to spend the money necessary for a decent web site. There is no other reality here. When RCI talks about their "web development team", are they talking about a true team of 6 - 12 people, or are they talking about the 1 part-time programmer (probably a student) who's in charge of their site?

                RCI, I'm already afraid

I just signed up with RCI and everthing has been a challenge. Makes me wonder if I chose the right company.

Maybe because the majority of the world use day/mth or 15/12 system and it would be less confusing for all concerned?

                    PIN challenge

I too have been trying to sign up for access to the RCI web site. I have been trying to get a PIN number emailed to me for 11 days!

First, I could not get the information form to send me the PIN. It turns out that RCI had my work phone number for my home phone number so it would not recognize my information as valid. After 9 days, the RCI person asks me for my home number to double check that, had the work number not the home number; "Oh, that could be what was causing the problem."

Second, at day 2 I started using the Feedback@rci.com to request a PIN. I would get a quick acknowledgement that said I would get a PIN in about 48 hrs. Well, 48 hrs later I would get an email from Feedback saying they had sent me a PIN to my email address. I would never get the email with the PIN.

I tried relaxing all of my junk email settings so that now I get every porn and sex pill email in the universe, but no email from RCI. I added the autoreply email to my addressbooks and contact . I made special settings in my junk mail, made a special rule for the autoreply email. Nothing. I had at least 9 emails sent to me with PINs that I never received.

Finally, today, I spoke with a live person (for the 4th time) and asked if they could give me a PIN over the phone. Nope, can't do that. So I asked them to send the email to my office email. Again nothing. Then they said that it may take an hour to receive it. I went to lunch. Came back, nothing.

Two hours later, I call again. Spoke with Amanda ( I have to acknowledge her). She got the supervisor to re-send the PIN email to my office email address again. Eureka!!!! I got it.

Went right to the RCI website and set up my account with no problems!

                      JLB: Conference call with RCI

JLB . . . I just spent a frustrating 15 wasted minutes on the RCI website . . . I quickly entered a search, and the website just stalled . . . It took several minutes and then I was "timed out" . . . Tried it again, same results . . . The website is so slow (at least this time) that the system timed me out before my requested search results could appear . . . Can you ask them during the conference call to delete this "timed out" function? . . . I can't think of any other website of any kind that does this to me, and I can't see what purpose it serves . . . Thanks, and good luck on your conference call . . . Please let us know what you come away with . . .

We have all been talking about wanted features since the last upgrade they did.....and RCI still has not gotten the message....they fixed a few things but not much.

The part I like is how all my confirmations keep changing from being listed 3 times to one time...to two times...and back again. It is never ending.

Quite a few bugs to work out......and time for a new upgrade already....not impressed.

                          Search against another deposit

The OLD RCI was much easier to use searching against another deposit. When I want to search against a different deposited unit all the information disappears and I have to re-enter it. Lots of things to get corrected........if they ever will.
