Do Extra Vacation count in the 1 in 4 rule?

Want to exchange into a resort that I visited over 3 years ago (but not 4) using an Extra Vacation.

yes extra vacations are counted in 1 and 4.

Yes - they do. Read the fine print at the bottom.

Last year I wanted to book a Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay to extend our vacation for another week in Mazatlan and we had exchanged there the year before and the system would not let me book it because we were flagged as having gone the during the 4 year period. I called RCI, and they said the 1-in-4 was only waived for owners. The Sheraton Buganvilias has the same rule - owners can book. All of the Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, Grand Bliss exchanges are subject to 1-in-5 and this is for ANY of their resorts - you cannot go to another resort within the 5 year time frame (unless they suspend the rule for a while - which they have done several times even though RCI leaves it on the information line - you have to call to find out if it has been lifted).

Hmm. That's weird. If EVs do count, they seem to only go in one direction. I have an exchange next month into HGVC Sea World, and so am barred from exchanging in. But, it looks like I *can* book the Extra Vacation inventory at that resort. For example, for President's Week '13:

Be very carefull since it is the resort that will cancel a 1 in 4 reservation. So just beacause you don't get a warning from RCI it does not guarantee your reservation.

My daughter was cancelled from going to the Mayan Palace Riviera Mayan just two weeks before her trip and since she had already paid for airline tickets for 5 she had to book a rental directly with Mayan Palace in order to go on her trip.
