  • My New RCI.com Results

I tried it this morning for the first time. It wouldn't work yesterday.

I did one of my daily searches, for two years, January, 2007 and January, 2008. I've been doing the same search daily (for different years) several years now.

First, I noted that if you use the back browser button to go back to the search page, the Area remains the same, but the Subarea defaults to the first one. I don't like that.

The results are no longer listed by RCI resort code, which really was not a good way to list unless you wanted the oldest resorts first. They are now listed alphabetically by city. The default setting shows 25 resorts per page, but I would prefer all of them, so I have to reset it each search.

For 2007, the results had been running in the low 50's and high 40's, with the lowest recently being 47. On the first search the result was 36!, so I tried again. That time it was 41. So I tried it 8 more times. 36/41/40/36/41/41/36/36!

I then searched 2008. It had been running in the 50's, with the latest being 50 exactly. It went 50/50/45/49/45/49/49/49/49/49.

I did 2007 again and it was 36, and 2008 again and it was 46.

I have searched various versions of RCI.com on a regular basis since it began in 1997 and on a daily basis the last six years, and have never seen results this erratic. In all those years I have never seen any repeated search ever vary more than 1 from the previous search.

Looks like that 486 they've been using all these years is finally dying on them!

2nd day using new site and it has calmed down a bit and gotten faster, relatively.

A complaint during the launch of the last new and improved RCI.com, followed by 6 months of tinkering and the IAB, was how you enter the date (then dates). Does anyone here or anyone in the Western Hemisphere write December 28, 2006 as 28-DEC-2006? Why not have it written the way people do in real life, like 12/28/06, for instance?

And what did eliminating an exact beginning and ending date and substituting a vague number of weeks timeframe accomplish?

          Am I wrong?

One search is now 44 and the other 51 every time.

Today I noticed you can set the list of resorts available to be displayed in several ways. Default is location, just like default is 25 resorts per page, and you have to switch each every search after the default occurs.

It saved my 5 week search interval from yesterday, so it could remember that I want to list all the resorts on one page and it could remember that when I browse Back I want it to stay in the same Subarea.

I would call this a tweak, a fresh coat of paint, a different way to display the same stuff.

I agree...the date set up is a big pain....not only does it give the weird formatting, vague dates, but the window you get to click on for the dates is slow and cumbersome to choose a date....then you have to have a calendar nearby to see where the range ends in 5 or 10 weeks.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Wait....so are you saying you CAN search for a whole year and everything available will come up like on II???
Not sure how that is done...it says to search 5-10 weeks at a time right?

Feedback told me to use the Start New Search or Modify Search buttons, rather than the Back button, just like they did before.

The pages reload painfully slow that way, just like they did before, so I will probably still do it my way, and then corrct whatever I have to.
