    There is a big difference between people moving there vs people just visiting. I would think that the shows probably are not that important for people relocating there whereas the shows are the main attraction for visitors.

Most of them are hoyty-toyty upper-crusties from SOCAL and other superior places, who were developer types, or Hollywood hob-knobber types, and had big boats and horses at Del Mar or some highly placed position in Orange County they are not allowed to talk about.

    Just in the little cluster of 12 houses here on the point, three are/were from California. At the Country Club where I golf occasionally, as opposed to the other very nice course where I golf frequently, there are several from California.

    In fact, if I eliminate those from the obvious places . . . Kansas City, St. Louis, Minneapolis, etc. . . . I know more people here who are from California than anywhere else.

    Local property marketing concerns here have historically targeted Californians.

    It is not the shows and attractions that made them move here, although that's a part of the local offering. They all fell in love with the beauty of the Ozark mountains, lakes and rivers, or they fell in love with the golf course. Many say that the first time they saw the lake or played the golf course, they knew they had to move here.

    Or, of course, the really big money they made there goes so much farther here.

    Maybe it's the type of place you would like to live, but wouldn't wanna visit.

    For me, summer or winter, I'm either at the golf course or on the water/at the beach.

      There are so many attractions, and so many different types of visitors, that I don't feel qualified to guess what main would be.

            I forgot what this was all about, you know, since it digressed into beat up Branson and the dufus from the sticks.

            The point of the thread, duh, is that Renting Condos Instead devalues all timeshares, everywhere, when they rent them out for prices like $249/week.

              You don't think $249 a week is overpriced for branson? I think that is where the difference of opinion lies. You believe $249 devalued I believe $249 increases the value. I know I wouldn't pay that much

                Sounds more like you were whining about your Branson timeshare losing TPU's---that it probably didn't deserve in the first place.

                      As long as others have decided to fixate on Branson (area), why not?

                      Page 5 of the Fall Endless Vacations has a full-page ad for Eureka Springs, 35 miles from our summer house, and Page 7 has a full-page ad for SW Florida. Eureka Springs is covered by a Weekenders article starting on Page 85.

                      So, I guess the things we like are not all that unusual, and seem to be shared with others.
