  • RCI offering free combination with deposit

I don't know for how long, but RCI is offering the chance to combine weeks for free if you make a deposit. You don't have to include your new deposit in the combo, which is good if you are depositing 2014 since combined deposits expire two years from the date of combining - a 2014 week won't expire until 2016 but if combined it will expire in 2015.

BUT I was able to combine three leftovers which now are enough to make a decent trade and they won't expire until two years from today, extending two of them quite a bit. A $109 savings.

Great deal. Sucks for me that I am up-to-date on my one deposit . This is one time it would have paid to procrastinate!

Irene, I would try calling them anyway if your deposit is anytime in the last few months, can't hurt.

Nope. I don't think it was an email notice, but rather something that popped up on the site last week. It was the day after I made a deposit on the phone, but my deposit didn't "clear" until today so it reminded me to call.

I just did the instant chat on RCI and asked. The agent looked up my account and said I had no such promotion associated with my account but if I called the 800 number I might have more luck. The last time this promotion was offered I tried to get it and was told that it was targeted and that I was not eligible. Hopefully this time I will find someone who will give it to me. I have 2 tpu's expiring this month (no big deal and 9 more in April).

Here's my experience. Your mileage may vary.

I could not see anything about the offer online, so I called and said I could not see anything about the offer online.

An obviously-new Guide said, yes, I could do that, and proceeded to add up the faux points total of I did a deposit, including the pittance for the deposit. So I said OK.

He went away for a few minutes and when he came back he said it would take 2 or 3 days for my resort to verify the deposit and then I would need to call back to get the free Combine.

I asked why I would need to call back when I have already called and told you what I want and he said because when the deposit gets verified no one would know I want the free combine unless I call back.

To which I said, but I just called and told you I want the free combine . . . .

I also noticed when I was looking at our resort account online that we had a $90 balance for one of the three weeks. So, I had to check our credit card payment history online, to see that I paid $650 for all three. Someone at the resort transposed one to $560. So, I had to call the resort bookkeeping (the third 800# I tried), and they are looking into that.

I believe all this crap qualifies as a PITA for something we no longer need or want.

Oh, did I say that once before?

Today is just another day in the world of timesharing.

First, feedback answered saying the free combination is if you also confirm an exchange at the time of the deposit. The Guide did not say that and did not ask if we wanted to confirm an exchange.

Next, Feedback said our resort denied the deposit, the second time that has happened, at two different resorts, in the last couple of weeks. The resort saw their error and told me to redeposit it. I am now doing that by phone.

This Guide says that she can free combine all but the deposit I'm making, because it has not been confirmed yet, and that I will not be allowed to include it since we are only allowed one free combine.

If I want to include the points on the new deposit for free (like why wouldn't I?) I will have to call back again.

She hasn't said anything about confirming an exchange in order to get the free Combine.

              Could this be any funner?

Oh yeah, this Guide did pitch Platinum, so we would get a $25 refund on combines.

I called RCI about the offer and was told it was only being offered to members who have deposit credits of 1 to 5 on their accounts. It always a bit interesting when so many different explanations are offered

Now that is interesting... it makes some sense (not a lot). I guess by limiting it to the under 5 set, they were being careful not to really give much in terms of trading power advantage for the waiver, but taking away a little bit of the sting for people who end up short just a couple of tpus and have to pay to combine - which is very annoying. It was nice for me bc I was able to combine three deposits.

                        I got ours done.

I think they just will do whatever they need to do to make a buck.

Well, like I said, ours got done.

But, like I said, the second time I attempted to deposit the new deposit, it got deposited twice, once by me calling a Guide (because it would not work online) and once by someone at Feedback. I got one Returned Deposit notice, which makes sense.

                          Then the confirmation.

Then my call to get the points combined.

Then, today, I got a second Returned Deposit notice. Two deposits, two returned notices.

But the points are still combined.

I gave up a long time ago trying to figure out how any timeshare-related organization runs their ship.

As to who the offer has been extended to, it was not extended to us. I would not have known about it without this thread.

Called up and was told again that the offer was not extended to me and that if it had been I would have received a post card with a reference code that I would have to give to RCI in order to get the free combine. I did get the bonus cert a few weeks ago but as I said when I received that I would rather get a free combine. I've let 4's and 2 expire before but I have a few 8's so I might as well combine. I left what I just deposited this year as it will not deposit until 2015 and I really don't want just one big deposit. I may have some vacation village affilliates that I may want to deposit to keep the discounted exchange fee. If anyone receives an offer code please let me know after you have used it so I can give it a try. - Thanks.

I just got an email with this offer about a week ago. I had credits of 2 and 13 on my account. I deposited two weeks, got confirmation of the deposit and called RCI today. What they did was to combine the 2 and the 13 free and extended their use to 5/2015. They left the two brand new deposits alone since they will both expire after that date. Definitely worth it to combine them for free.
