  • OK RCI where did all the exchanges go overnight?

I do not copy & paste the real numbers each day. Obsessive as I am the disease has never managed to get that bad.

To the occassional observer these numbers don't look off:

    Region
    Carolinas and the Southeast [3923]
    Florida [6055]
    Gulf States [1593]
    Hawaii [229]
    Mid-Atlantic [1029]
    Mid-South [3067]
    Midwest & Plains [1596]
    New England [2719]
    Pacific Coast [2994]
    Rocky Mountains [3199]

In reality they are a third to a half of normal.

Let's break down a couple of regions:

Hawaii has been running in the mid-400s. I posted one example where I have concrete evidence in ex-ops this morning.

California usually presents ~ 83 resorts this morning there are only 67 - another posting of another resort I've watched lately

Florida is the one where the eyebrows went up. It is also the second region I check each morning

    FL - Inland [138]
    FL - Keys [1]
FL - Northern Atlantic Coast [867]
FL - Northern Gulf Coast [147]
    FL - Orlando Area [2912]
    FL - Panhandle [225]
FL - Southern Atlantic Coast [1639]
FL - Southern Gulf Coast [108]

S Gulf Coast has been in the 400s and S Atlantic is probably a third of it's normal postings.

I went in expecting Wyndham and or WorldMark bulkbanks and see this.

I'll try to check back in at some point today but Fridays are busy.

Certainly is strange....I put one of those SoCal weeks on hold but saw your comments - in that case, it was the 2014 weeks that were gone, most of the 2015 weeks were still there.

Interesting that my numbers are quite different than yours. I.e. in Florida panhandle I see 50 less resorts. But in the Pacific coast US I see about 60 more.??

I saw something odd this morning too---a date I was tracking in Florida for larger units suddenly had half the number of units it had yesterday. Interestingly, the inventory remaining was also less expensive, TPU-wise.

I see a bunch of red tags appearing.
Maybe they are marking them down.
Enchanted Isle has like 1/3 of the usual units.

This reminds me of JLB's post about Southern FL resorts on the beach during snowbird season. For years they were there and then one day they were cut in 1/2 and then another 1/3 and then they just disappeared all together.

Looks like they are back to normal, or at least there are more now.

Wow!!! Good memory of good memories!!!

Yeah, there was a period soon after "disclosure" began where there would be a whole lot of 14-day window Florida stuff at the beginning of the day, it would whittle down during the day, and the next morning it would be high again. It repeated like that for several days. I remember saying they were going to the back room at night, getting more, and restocking the shelves.

That's when we were all watching the rentals.

Of course, there was a time not long ago when there were no numbers, so that those paying really close attention actually found meaningful information not available anywhere. Of course, those not around during those days tend to scoff and make fun of that sort of thing. But, in the final analysis, it doesn't really matter that I was able to document the disappearance of exchange inventory in SW FL in January. After all, it's still gone, isn't it.

The numbers, disclosure, came about because some people really were paying attention, sharing information, and asking questions.

But, now, there's no need to warn that the sky is falling when all of it has already fallen, or to cry wolf when the sheep have all been eaten.

Looks like things are back to normal, for what that's worth. I believe in the old days, we called this a glitch.

Speaking of that January thread, one thing that hasn't changed is where people wanna go in Florida in January:

                  January, 2014
                  FL - Inland [8]
FL - Northern Atlantic Coast [71]
                  FL - Orlando Area [310]
                  FL - Panhandle [43]
FL - Southern Atlantic Coast [19]

That would be the areas that have nothing left: The Keys, Southern Gulf Coastal, and Northern Gulf Coast. Pretty much in that order.

                  It's not like there's not many resorts in SW Florida . . . there's more than 50.
