I can't believe RCI will let me buy Trading Power Protection up until the first day of my reservation. That is crazy! Nice to know I can save the money until I have a reason to cancel.

Why are you surprised?
You already paid the exchange fee and somebody else, not RCI paid the MF's on those TPU's, so it's no skin off their backs.

That's why I liken RCI's term "protection" to the old mob days (at least I hope they're old, but who knows) when storeowners had to pay "protection" to prevent being robbed or worse by their "protectors."

They charge more $89 vs $49 if you add after the first 30 days. It doesn't protect the exchange fee which is in some cases worth more than the tpu's. Some tpu's are still saved even without protection. Unless I am using a lot of tpu's (more than 25) and am cancelling very last minute it isn't worth adding the protection even if I am cancelling.
