It wouldn't be RCI if there wasn't something quirky . . . here's their redemption schedule for RCI Dollars:

    $25---2500 points
    $50---5000 points
    $100---10000 points
    $200---16000 points
    $300---24000 points
    $400---32000 points

It's not unusual to give a better value for larger redemptions, so the $200 for 16000 points is as you would expect. The second $100 only costs 6000 points.

But, there is not the same amount of discount for the $300 and $400 values. Those $100 increments each cost 8000 points.

    This is new-ish:

RCI Member Rewards redemptions are processed immediately and instantly added to your RCI account.

    Opening Exchange Balance USD 0.00
    Coupon Balance USD 0.00
    RCI Member Rewards USD 200.00

Some of the newer timesharers would not know how much we asked to get things like this, immediate credits and refunds, and to show balances like it does now.

So, anyone ever use a "coupon"? This is the first time I've noticed that.

I think "coupon" isn't like we normally think of a coupon for redemption but a credit.
I had one on my account once when I had to call in and have tech support book something for me after I had put it on hold so they gave me a "coupon" for future use instead of a credit.

Wow! Pleasant surprise!!! Pleasant surprise #2, actually.

In December, 2014, we were debating buying a second Florida house, trying to get someone else to do it because we didn't think we wanted the hassle.

Then BarclayCard RCI Elite Rewards offered us a no-interest cash advance for 14 months, so we used that to buy the house. We gutted it, remodeled it and are moving into that house.

The interest-free part of the cash advance just expired, and we will be paying that off.

Any way, we were getting close to 16000 Elite Rewards points, which is where I always cash it in for $200 RCI dollar, so I checked.

        We have 54000 points!!!

Wow! Pleasant surprise #3. RCI rewards are discounted:

$200 RCI Dollars are normally 16,000 Rewards and now they are 12,501 Rewards. Other amounts similarly discounted. Looks like the best would $900 RCI. Wow! Just what we need.

I wonder if there is a limit.

Still glad I dumped the card way back when.

With the discounts, it turned out to be $1000, with some left over. At the discounted Extra Vacations, like today, that's enough for four of them!!!!
