  • RCI cancelled my summer 2015 exchange to Carlsbad Inn

The cancelled it on Aug 11 and I just noticed. No calls, no emails. The supervisor it is assigned to is out until Monday. I'm done with RCI completely very soon. I was just using up the last points in my account. Just posting so everyone remembers to constantly keep an eye on them.

        Was it a 1 in 4 thing?

Had you been to another Grand Pacific resort in the last 3-4 years? I know they have a group block. Still, you would think you would have at leave received an email.

              That makes it really confusing.

HGVC members used to be excluded from the 1 in 4 rule when exchanging back in to HGVC through RCI but a little over a year ago they removed that exemption. I wonder if GPR is also changing.

If you already bought your tickets, or need to book some emergency replacement with higher price because of this cancellation, you can (and IMO should) sue RCI in your local small claims court. Let them fly their company rep to your place to represent themselves in court, or otherwise you will just win the default judgement.

This way they will think twice before canceling next time.

Should we have a Canceled by RCI Club?

Did the same to me 2 weeks before occupancy in 2007 but got a replacement week at another resort at the same location about 4 days later. I cancelled my membership when I got back from the trip. RCI sucks.

Very unlikely. What usually happens in these cases is that RCI assigns a "specialist" to find alternative lodging. They have a lot of discretion---up to and including pulling a unit out of rental inventory, from Points to Weeks, etc.---to solve problems. Over the years, most of these problems have been solved. It sucks when you are in the middle of it, though, for sure.

As an owner of Carlsbad Inn or any Grand Pacific Resort the 1 in 4 year rule is supposed to be waived.
I just was at the Carlsbad Inn and a sales manager was pitching foreclosure weeks and said they would waive the restriction.
I have heard it repeatedly over the years.
My guess is an RCI executive wanted your room
