Well this makes me feel sick to my stomach and it's not even my exchange. Do update us on what they say.

This has happened to me once as well. The week in question was a 3BR at Grand Pacific Palisade and after working with a Specialist for a week, I got a replacement in a 2BR at Carlsbad Seapointe. Not ideal but at least my guests had a place to stay. I wonder why this seemed to happen with Grand Pacific Resorts exchanges...

I don't know much about exchanging and exchange companies like RCI and II but I have figured out enough and that is that they collect money from their members to make exchanges supposedly but then they seem to turn around and rent the weeks out to the public who is willing to pay them more. I can't prove it but this seems to be a good example of it.
When we finally decided not to renew, RCI seems to sell our private information to a list broker so we are being bombarded by another group of scammers by telephone but the information they sold to them is years out of date and this serves the scammers right. Nobody had this information on us but RCI!
i would sue them too, if I were in your place.

At least it's a year in advance and you haven't purchased airfare yet. I've had it happen twice very close to check in. The first time we got a better resort and much better location with an beautiful oceanview. The second time the check in date was changed from a Fri to a Sat. RCI ended up giving me an additional unit for the week before since airfare had already been purchased. In the first instance, the owner of the week claimed he hadn't deposited his week.
RCI will make it right. Don't worry.Pat H

The Club seems to be pretty large.
In our case, when we could not confirm an exchange online, the VC said, "If I confirm it, you got it." She did and we did. 30 days later they canceled it.
It led to me "meeting" Inside Guy five years later, so some good came out of it.

One thing maybe to consider there is an RCI office located at Grand Pacific Palisades. I went to an RCI 101 class at Carlsbad Inn last week.
Phil from RCI was there and let us know some information on RCI. A lot of the meeting was spent on points trying to move some foreclosure inventory at
the Carlsbad Inn. Phil seemed really knowledgeable and honorable perhaps he or one of the other people in the RCI office set up for Grand Pacific Owners
would be of help to you.
