It's not and you don't have to pay- unless you want to be an RCI member. You seem to have a unique propensity to over talk everything until it brings you to a state of confusion.

      Ah, confusion.

Brought about by 25 years with RCI maybe.

      Typical RCI-doublespeak.

First they say, "Your RCI membership is a separate legal asset from your timeshare property."

Then they say they want $98 when you give your timeshare to someone else, which they just said is a separate thing.

Anyone here sell or give a week to someone else, and pay RCI for the "transfer"?

          Another irony:

My inquiry was on behalf of someone we may be giving a week to, to see if they would have an initial RCI fee, in addition to the subscription fee, and the answer is that we have a fee!!!!

I've sold/given away 5 in the last 2 years and added 3 into RCI. There is no transfer fee for a weeks membership. The new owner just needs to pay for the new membership.
The 3 that I added to an existing account required no form and no fee. I called up and asked to have the weeks added. I gave the info on the resorts. It took about a week to verify and they appeared in my account.

I bought one week last January that I sold a couple of weeks ago. It came with 3 years of paid RCI membership and 3 years of banked weeks. I had to pay a single $98 fee to have the membership and banked weeks transferred. I then transferred the credits into my other existing account, no fee to do that and cancelled the RCI membership and applied the prorated refund to my RCI points account. Easy peasy. This is the only one that needed the Transfer form and fee.

The new owner doesn't need your signature on any form to set up an account once the deed is registered. The membership doesn't need to be started immediately unless the new owner wants to deposit immediately and/or search for rentals.

Related, just minutes ago feedback confirmed that there is no fee to delete a week from your RCI account, and they appreciate being notified, since they have no other way of knowing.
