Looking for someone else with a Barclaycard RCI Elite Rewards MC. Or any Barclaycard maybe.

To see if their accounts have been closed, and new cards issued, like ours.

In the past 4 months our MasterCard was closed and new cards issued as a result of the mega security breach at Home Depot.
Possibly your problem was caused by the same security breach?

Home Depot or one of the several others.

Because it has hit us at an awkward time, lots of end-of-year stuff due, with me down here and DW up there, I have had to actually speak to a person (after copious messaging) to make sure both I and DW get the new cards. Because I have had to speak to an actual person, I can tell that whatever they are doing, for whatever reason, is very awkward for them, and something they are having a hard time putting into words.

There have been phrases like "sometimes Security internally" . . .

In any event, it will be our fourth "compromised" credit card in the last couple of years.

I have RCI "rewards" card (I think Barclays?), no re-issue, but I don't actually use it so not possible for the number to have been scammed away.

Our re-issue went smoothly. They bent over backwards to get DW one up there and me three (?) down here.

60 Minutes had an interesting piece on these cyber crime mobsters.
Apparently with the Target hack they got 40 million cards but only were able to use 5% which still makes this 2 million accounts hacked.
At $20 a pop that $40 million they stole with one merchant.
And they've got a website where they sell these card numbers to others with a money back guarantee.
Sadly the banks are sometimes the last to know they've been hacked.
They subscribe to some investigators services to try to stay ahead of the gangs.
                    Scary stuff.

An expert on one of the morning programs this morning said that 97% of all businesses can be hacked.
