  • RCI recombined points after cancellation

I was not aware of this, maybe others are.

I used a Sand Pebbles deposit of 52 to confirm an exchange that cost 24
I had a deposit credit in my account labeled for 28 points.

When I canceled the exchange, it now says Sand Pebbles 52

So it made the deposit whole again. I do not have to pay a fee to combine.

    Works for me

I think that would have been terrible if they charged you to make the deposit whole again.

It will automatically re-combine, *unless* you combine the credit with something else first. It's also possible that it won't re-combine if you book something else against the credit in the interim, but I do not know.

            Agree.
And I think because it was just there as a credit, it recombined.
In the past I have canceled but chances are the orphan points were combined by me into a bigger deposit.
I honestly have never kept track so was VERY happy to have such a large deposit without paying to combine.

It really is because going forward, if I "think" I might be canceling something, I will keep those leftovers separate for a time u til I am certain I will be going.

This is my experience. If the credit is untouched it will be recombined if the underlying exchange is cancelled, even if it is a late cancellation which reduces the trading power. I had a credit of 29 which I used to confirm a trade of 26. I later had to cancel and incurred a 3 tpu reduction, but wound up with a recombined credit of 26. (i.e. 29 - 26 + 23).

However, in another instance I confirmed a week and cancelled within the 24 hour grace period, but my deposit was not recombined because I had used the credit to set up an ongoing search in the interim. If I had known that , I would have waited to set up the ongoing search until after I cancelled the exchange.

BTW - on your account screen there is something called a "Trading Power Statement" which details all the adjustments to each relationship number.

Note that I just learned the hard way that it will NOT recombine if you have an ongoing search against the remainder. I was able to call to straighten it out but it took two phone calls and at least an hour.

Your guess is correct. If you book something else with the credit and then cancel the first confirmation, the 2 remaining credits are not recombined.
