How do RCI TPUs work?

As RCI is under Wyndham’s control, some rules may have changed.????
For some time now, I read about individuals timesharing by using RCI. I’ve missed something along the way that others could enlighten me on. I don't understand how TPUs work.
I have been under the opinion that Wyndham excess points could be rolled into RCI as a way of not losing them for a couple years. Last I knew, that action had cost attached. As far as anyone knows, has RCI fees changed in the last couple of years?
We need to protect 300K or so points this year as we haven’t been vacationing as we should. Of course I sure RCI still doesn't allow RENTING, so what ever I place with them, we still need to vacation with. RIGHT?????

As a wyndham points owner, you still need not worry or figure out about tpu's. Your points use a crossover grid so that a certain size unit during a certain time of year cost x or y wyndham points. tpu's are a system of classifying the trading power of a unit not exclusively based on size and season. For example a 1 br DVC unit would cost the same number of wyndham points as a generic non name 1 br two towns over from Disney for the same dates. While in the tpu system the DVC unit might be worth 50 tpu's and the no name unit might be worth 6.

RCI fees are $209 per weekly exchange in addition to the points used. A guest cert is $59. You can't advertise and rent RCI units. If you have a friend or cousin or co-worker who wants to compensate you by taking you to dinner or paying your car payment one month RCI isn't going to know. Asking a stranger to pay to use RCI unit is against the rules and not a wise thing to do. Sometimes looking at ebay, you would think RCI turns a blind eye but you never know when they may decide to take a closer look.
