This is why we bought where we want to go each year within driving distance. It is also why we no longer belong to RCI and just use the independent exchange companies for the rare times we do want to exchange. Even in those cases, we never deposit our week first. We find what we want and then call to reserve it and give them our week. It is also why we rent from another owner if we want to go elsewhere on an additional vacation. Perfectly happy with our 2 fixed and 1 floater off-season week. Stress free- just show up and use.

That said- when we used to exchange years ago through RCI it was a challenge but we did go on many awesome vacations through long range, strategic planning and a little bit of luck thrown in..

I used RCI for many years, but am no longer a member. I do my exchanges through independent exchange companies like SFX, DAE, and UKRE which do NOT divert exchange deposits to rentals and are more honest. You have other options out there other than RCI. Explore them.
SFX is pretty liberal in handing out multiple bonus weeks for depositing. You can use these bonus weeks to make a request and you pay a fee based on how far out you confirm the "bonus exchange" A 2br bonus week confirmed anywhere from 91 days to 365 days prior to check in has a redemption fee of $899. Call it what you will but it sounds an awful lot like a deposit rental.

You got me to take another look (I love mole hunting) and I found that there is a city, county or town named Indiana in the state of Pennsylvania.

Well then I hope they come back, lots of (mostly) current and good information in this thread.

Not only is there an Indiana University of Pennsylvania, there is also a California University of Pennsylvania.

And it is in California, Pennsylvania. I wonder how many other towns/cities have state names n the Keystone state.

North Carolina has both a Washington County and a town of Washington (which is not in Washington County). We also have towns of Bolivia and Bahama.

Washington is low-hanging fruit, thanks to our first President. Heck, I wonder how many states don't have one!

Some Maine towns are China, Norway, Paris, Denmark, Naples, Sweden, Poland, Mexico and Peru. And those are just the ones on a signpost at Lynchville, Maine. But this is turning into a topic hijack.
