  • RCI - Tuscany Question

I'm searching for Tuscany/Umbria in RCI and am not positive if the correct area to look is Italy:Mainland, Italy:Inland except Alps or somewhere else.

Can someone direct me to the correct place, please ? I called RCI, but was left hanging for about 10 minutes after the inital borderline-orgasmic announcement when you call 1-800-338-7777. I always dread calling and gettnig the "extend your membership sales pitch".
    (just venting here).

Okay, I just called and the answer I got was.............drum roll................ "I think that's in Europe "! True story !!! Then, after explaining to the guide, she told me.........another drum roll................. "Italy(Exlc Alps) Sicily and Sardinia". I told her that it couldn't be as those were islands off of Italy and that Tuscany was on the mainlaind. Sheesh.
    Thank You.

The "Italy (Exlc Alps), Sicily and Sardinia" will show you all of italy except the Alps and also includes Sicily and Sardinia. You will get any Tuscany/Umbria in that also if any available.
When I was searching Italy earlier in the year I was having a heck of a time seeing anything, then I talked with a VC and had them do some searches droping the VEP filter and found a few things. They were reluctant to do this but I had gotten screwed up with a resort that I had booked in Tuscany that then changed ownership and no longer was a time share, so they did it for me. It seems that it's a bit of a "Catch 22" in that you need a good trader to see anything in Italy at all, but you sometimes get filtered from seeing stuff because of VEP issues (many of the Italy TS's are not Gold Crown but the location makes for a tough trade). Anyway we ended up not taking the ones they found for us because of timing issues and we decided to make the trip with 2 other couples and have now decided to do a tour in April/May of next year. Sorry for the longwinded answer but hope it answers you question.

I was trying to figure out those bizarre categories they have for Europe, too. Italy's the worst, but Spain is pretty terrible too. What if you have an ongoing search for something you can't even get b/c of trading power?

        Where's that head-banging-against-wall symbol?

I can't really recommend the resorts because I don't really know much about them having never been there yet, but, I will look back and see if I can remember which ones they had found for me.
I know that thru RCI it seems to be a very hard trade.
If I can come up with somthing I will post or PM you.
Good luck with your search, I know that everyone that goes to Italy says it is a great place to visit.

Beags if you want Tuscany, I would go where I just stayed at in Assisi, Carpediem Assisi living club is about an hour or two drive from any where you want to go and the train is close by if you rather train it. The area in Assisi is amazing and pricing for diner is more realistic.

How was your trip? In reading the reviews of Carpediem Assisi I seemed to be one of few who had a good unit and liked it there. Since you're recommending it I guess you liked it also. I'd love to hear more about your Italy trip and see photos!

No complaints about my unit. I had a great unit with a great moon view overlooking the mountains at night, only complaint was I wish people there would shower more. Boy did housekeeping have BO.

I have over 1600 photos to sort through so it might take me a while to get them posted. I filled a 512 meg card 3 times and had to get Cd's burned.
