Do you think its odd that there is nothing available to exchange in the whole state of California for the whole month of October????

I assume you mean October this year. I just did a quick search and found several places in october including:
Stardust-Tahoe , The Lodge at Lake Tahoe, Tahoe Beach & Ski Club, Americana Village, Red Wolf Lakeside Lodge, Stallion Springs Resort, Lawrence Welk's Desert Oasis. Indian Palms Intervals, Sands of Indian Wells, Squaw Valley Lodge, Vista Mirage Resort, The Plaza Resort and Spa, and The Villas of Palm Springs.
Don't really know anything about these places.
