  • RCI Guest Cert charges also went up!

We know the RCI exchange fees went up on Sept 10. What I didn't see posted anywhere was that guest cert fees also increased!! They went up to $59 from $49. See here http://www.rci.com/CDA/Common/Documents/points_fees.pdf

    This just sucks

Most of the independent exchange companies give FREE guest certificates.

      This is indeed an overcharge!

I am sure that people will be finding ways on how to get around a GC. Like call the Resort and tell them this person is checking in before me. Hope that II does not follow.

There is only one reason for Family Members having to pay for a Guest Certificates.

The only reason for Family Members paying for guest certificates from RCI is PROFIT for RCI.

I consider that all my Family are part owners of my timeshare week. My weeks are deeded weeks. Therefore they are owned by my family just as much as our house is when we die.

Perhaps next RCI will come up with an Owner's Certificate on top on the Exchange Fee.

RCI is a Cash Cow for Cendant. When the cow is milked dry, they will sell.

            Walt

PS. If anyone wants to defend RCI on the Guest Certificate, please do so with something more than, "Profit is not a bad word." , "If you don't like it drop your membership." Just give me a reason why the Guest Certificate Fee is necessary.

Tug Closed the Discussion Thread on this Subject! WHY?

Why would Tug close the Discussion Thread on this subject?

Did they add a new rule where you can not discuss question asked on ASK RCI?

Consider you can not rent out the week, this is overcharge even if you assume the risk of a guest probably is higher than a TS owner.

Why should your own kids pay for a Guest Certificate on your Timeshare Exchange with RCI?

I do think it is over-charge.

But, before I give the ownership to them, the US law will not allow them to do anything with my property even if my intention is to give to them eventually. They can not use my property unless I agree. And once they are old enough, the US law will seperate their responsibility from me. If they own any money, I have no responsible there. Or do I get the wrong information?

I didn't realize they had closed it. I had made 2 postings specifically, one for discussion on the exchange forum and one for Madge to answer. I didn't want anyone other than Madge to reply on my ask RCI one. If other people responded, it would always get bumped and Madge would never reply.

Yesterday I posted on your thread on the Exchange Forum. After "rod" posted on the same thread, "Ouaifer" closed your post on the Exchange Forum and said you could only post on one Forum and made a link to your ASK RCI Thread.

I sent a PM to "Oualifer" asking why was it closed. I think Dave M also gets a copy of the PM. (I'm not sure about this) Either way I think Dave M opened the Exchange Forum Thread. And he also deleted someone's post on your ASK RCI tread and put a link to your Exchange Forum thread.

I have deleted one message from this thread. This forum is only for questions directed to Madge. Those wishing to discuss this issue, should do so at this link on the Exchanging forum. Dave M

We already pay for an exchange fee as well as a yearly membership fee for the privilege of depositing. What difference is it to RCI if an exchange is made in someone else's name. How would that cost them more and thus require another $59 charge on top of the membership fee and exchange fee?

This week I sent in my form to discontinue our 3yr contract with RCI pts at the end of July 2007 and cited the ever increasing costs of RCI compared to the other exchange companies we use. Hopefully, if enough people do that, they'll revise the unnecessary fees. If they don't, well, it won't be our loss.

Last time they increased fees substantially in Australia, they gave us no notice whatsoever. When I queried why no notice was printed in Endless Vacation, they told me it had been emailed to members. NOT! I can't stand being so brazenly lied to by a business.
