  • RCI Extra Vacations

Even though my account is not active yet, I used my mother's account to search for vacation weeks in early April. The prices are great. To take advantage of it, I would have to purchase a guest certificate for $49. Does anyone think I can do better than $400 (including the guest certificate) at the Williamsburg Kingsgate in a 2BR for the first week in April on the private rental market?

There is one week available with a strong trader:

If you can see that Fairfield 2 bedroom on Extra Vacations for $333/week you will not do better on the rental market.

If I were you, I'd grab it quickly.

BTW Guest Certificates are $59. So your TOTAL would be just under $400. That's a steal.

King's Creek is great if you get a 2 bedroom but the 1 bd unit are very small. Avoid the 1 bds there.

Thanks for the advice. I booked a 2 Bedroom at the FF Williamsburg Kingsgate for 3/30 - 4/6/7 for $391.32, including the $59 guest certificate. Now hopefully nothing will happen between now and then to make us cancel, because the cancellation charges are rather steep.

            You're welcome.

Welcome to the world of timeshare and particularly RCI's version of exchanging. If you think planning 4 months out is tough, let me advise you that you were extremely lucky to find something this close to your desired travel time at an attractive cost .

For the best exchanges, particularly exchanges involving school schedules, you must plan far out.

Planning vacations 2 years in advance has it's advantages and it's drawbacks.
You can shop for airfare, use frequent flyer miles, etc.

It is a severe change in mindset from traditional vacation planning.

MY DH took 7 YEARS to adjust to my planning vacations 2 years in advance. In the beginning he would just say "yeah, uh, OK".,glazed look on face NOW he appreciates the planning and looks forward to our trips that are booked for 15 months from now.
