Maybe if RCI can get a week and money from a member fewer prime weeks will go to nonmembers for just money.

Hilton has different points requirements for different seasons and sizes. I could send 6+ weeks in a studio during silver season or 2 weeks during gold season in a 1 bedroom or 1 week in a 2 bedroom during plat season.

My crystal ball suggests that that is being tightened up. If you wanna talk about it, and our experience recently, drop me an email.

Yep, it sounds just like the way RCI points already works.
My RCI points week gives me 25k points, which I have learned is insufficient to get anything worthwhile unless I wait for the 45-day window. I have to use two years' worth of points, plus stick in another week for PFD, to get enough for a decent week that my points week could probably get on its own if I just outright traded it in weeks.
The bloom is off the rose for me with RCI points, at least with a low-value points week. (And buying a high-value points week is no guarantee it will stay high-value, as Sheraton Vistana owners are finding out now that their resort has been downgraded from GC to SC)
I imagine RCI could dink around with a weeks program too, so that while it might seem great at first it would soon enough mean more money for RCI and less trading power for me.

Wow! So you think it would be worse than having to use three weeks to get one exchange like you say you now have to in Points?

This is RCI points and I think it has been a good thing to the Industry. It takes out all the guess work. if you get only 25,000 points and the resort in Hawaii takes 75,000 you cant trade there. That is trading power in a nutshell or atleast the Cliff Note version. I now do PFD for my 2 non points resorts and keep my little blue studio resort for my last minute I'll go anywhere I can trade to a 2 bedroom trades. This may not all be true but it is what the salesman told me....

Where Was My Head?
There has always been a way for Weeks members to upgrade.
When we got two weeks at the Makai Club (1-bedroom units) on Kauai, because that's the best we could see, we upgraded in the 45/14 Day Window to 2-bedroom units at Lawaii Beach Resort and Embassy at Poipu. Of course it cost us another exchange fee for each upgrade, but that is a small price to pay for a trading power boost.
So there always has been a way for those who know their way around.
The 45/14 Day Window does not appear to be what it used to be and waiting until the last minute is more unnerving than being able to see everything to begin with. However, that method of upgrading should satisfy the objections of the owners of the better traders since they all had the opportunity to take the better resorts first, and did not.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

I was playing around with RCI's Points for Deposit Grid.
It's not the easiest thing to work with as none of my resorts are RCI Points resorts and only one of my 4 exchanges is a Points resort.
But if I did the math correctly; I am exchanging into 192,500 points worth of vacations with 93,500 points worth of deposits for 2007 and 75,500 points worth of exchange with 29,500 points deposited for 2008.
I think I'm beginning to comprehend Carolinian's argument about the points assignment grids.
If this keeps up my 3 weeks will get me one week of vacation each year. The MFs are too high to keep that up until I'm not bound by a school calendar.
Just thought I'd throw that plate of spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.Lawren
