RCI Sticks It To A Member Once Again

I have had an ongoing search for a second week at Kona for about six months now.

I got a call at the office Wednesday afternoon at 2pm offering me a week. I said I had to check at home and call back. The VC said she would put it on a 24 hour hold. I called back at 9am the next morning and informed another VC the week was not a good match to the week I already had. So the second VC (Lisa) said she would continue the search.

Today Tuesday I called to see if I could grab one from the Shell bulk space bank and was informed that my search had been autoconfirmed to the week I told Lisa would not work.

I was informed that even though 24 hours had expired, the week would be released.....but my search would start new from today. I now go to the bottom of the list of those who have put in requests. And of course because the week had been tied up I missed the week at Shell that would have worked.

RCI sticks it to a paying member again.

and ask to speak to a supervisor. There is no reason why you shouldn't be reinstated at the place in the queue that you were at.

and they CAN do that.

If the supervisor doesn't fix it right away send a note to feedback@rci.com with TUG, or Madge, in the subject line. They will correct it if you are persistent. Sad it went this far.

I cancelled a unit on hold last night and my deposit did not return AND an ongoing search was started (not by me). I called right away. They asked me to extend my membership and I said I had no intention of extending my membership and told them why, then they asked about me depositing one of my weeks and I told them NEVER AGAIN and told them why. Now I had better go check my account.

Don't you know how dangerous it is to antagonise a VC? They do bad enough damage to your account when you're friendly. Imagine what they'll do if you're not. You could log on and find you're confirmed for a unit in Mongolia in Winter!

Don't you know how dangerous it is to antagonize a VIC? They do bad enough damage to your account when you're friendly. Imagine what they'll do if you're not. You could log on and find you're confirmed for a unit in Mongolia in Winter!

Yikes, it sounds really painful to deal RCI.....It's sort of like what could happen to your food if you antagonize a waiter/waitress in a restaurant.

I called RCI again this morning and talked with a supervisor. The search date has been back dated one year...which he said was the farthest back he could date it. And the resorts I requested are back in the search list.

However I did miss the bulk space bank of shell vacation club.

I noticed some time ago that anytime I cancel a hold that an automatic search is started. What I have to do is go in and and cancel the search and then the week gets returned to my available for exchange listing.

A simple solution would to be to have a check box after a hold is cancelled to ask "Do you want a search to continue with this week?" However, RCI and simple solutions don't seem to be compatible.

Yes, I've noticed that too. It doesn't always happen, but it's annoying. It's especially annoying when you put a last call or some dumpy week on hold and then decide against it...and then a week later RCI suddenly starts calling every five minutes to tell you they've found a match for your ongoing search. Yes, I know there are many comparable dumpy weeks available, thank you.

So the answer from Madge was it was a mistake and easily corrected. Why all the cross words? No other company ever makes a mistake with an account? Sheese. Anything to knock RCI, not that they don't do enough on thier own that actually deserves the heat. Maybe you've never dealt with II (Incorrect Information)?

I think the biggest problem is the two different things they can do with a week on hold. If the VG doesn't understand or explain the difference correctly, they can get you in trouble. The last time one called me she did a good job of explaining the difference. Hope I can do the same here.

My choice was to leave the matched hold in place just like it was, which required me to confirm it or it would release itself and go to the automatic search mentioned in other posts above.

She offered to do something else (can't recall exactly how she worded it) which is basically confirming it and giving you 24 hours to change your mind. Yet they call it some kind of hold. I'm sure they prefer you to do that because they get a commission on it. I know once before they didn't follow my directions and did this without my permission, but I decided I wanted the week any way and let it slide.

I am always VERY clear now that I do not want them to do anything but leave it just like it is while I make my decision.
