RCI Stealing Dad's Vacation Village at Weston Confirmation

Well sometime last year Dad traded into the Vacation Village at Weston for President week. Today there was a message from an RCI supervisor saying that they were not going to be able to honor that confirmation. Dad returned the call but ended up having to leave a message and is now awaiting the return phone call.

I remember reading about this happening to others back in December but don't know how those situations turned out. So what do you think? Does he have any recourse? If it comes down to compensation what do you think would be reasonable to expect?

That's outrageous, of course. Keep calling, for sure. Their job is to fix this..they would generally offer another resort, but that may be difficult President's week. Please let us know what happens.

Dad just talked to the RCI supervisor and was able to come away happy. RCI said they actually had to relocate 400 people but didn't give a reason. They initially offerred Dad a bunch of unacceptable resorts for that week but Dad said they would not work. Eventually he agreed to the Palm Beach Shores on Singer Island.

Dad's week and exchange fee were also returned to his account. He immediately used this week to confirm another exchange for summer 2008 so all in all he was satisfied.

Unfortunately, I am sure that there will be others who are not able to work something out. My parents just got lucky. How this could happen is just beyond me. It certainly doesn't give me much confidence in RCI.

Wow! That saga continues.

It obviously is not a minor overbooking problem.

Fortunately, those I have heard from personally have all been pleased with the outcome. We got somewhat caught up in it when we were on two exchanges in Florida 12/23 and 12/30.

I also heard from my Crystal Ball about it.

It's hard to say whether it's the resorts fault for giving RCI too many units or if RCI's computer sys. went haywire!! Let's have a vote!

I vote against RCI. They probably rented out the entire resort for a seminar or convention.

We just got a call from RCI too...AGAIN

We are at the Mizner now (PS, It's beautiful!) and are scheduled for another week here the 23rd of Feb. I was somewhat leery of our reception here because of what happened here in January - overbooking, people turned away, but it worked out fine.

Today we get a call on our unit phone, no less, from RCI saying they have to relocate 1200 people because of an error (unexplained) and they will have to relocate us for the 23rd, please call back!

These were not avail last Monday

I had looked up on the vets holiday site for a friend, she had also called, but there was nothing. and of course nothing today.

Fortunately, I was able to get a FF unit for her for thei trip home
