RCI weeks vs points

I'm a bit confused about this. I have a couple questions:

1. Are there certain resorts listed with RCI that are just points resorts or week resorts?

2. Are RCI points just for nightly stays?

Any clarification is appreciated.

1. Yes. Many RCI resorts are weeks only, some are both weeks and points, and a few are points only.

Most timeshare resorts were developed long before RCI started their points program. Those earlier resorts that were affiliated with RCI were affiliated as weeks resorts. After RCI announced the points program, some of the resorts also affiliated with RCI as points resorts - other resorts did not, so they remain weeks resorts. However, many of the owners at resorts that did affiliate with RCI points were not willing to pay the fees to convert their weeks to points, so they remain weeks owners. Thus, these resorts are both weeks and points resorts.

Some resorts that began development after RCI started the points program did affiliate with RCI points exclusively at the beginning - these are the points only resorts. But, there are also other new resorts that affiliated with RCI weeks rather RCI points.
