First of all, WOOHOO!! And yes, all the units have a balcony that faces the ocean, though the ocean isn't immediately adjacent...You'll love it!

You'll love it! We snagged an exchange there last summer and hope to go back some day. We had a one-br.

The partial kitchen is tiny but very workable. The 2-br ones may be bigger. Ours in the 1-br was roughly 6' x 8' (I kid you not) with a full-size refrigerator and kitchen cabinet on one side, and the sink, cooktop and dishwasher on the other side. There was enough room to stand in the middle and cook without taking a step lol. Two people can fit but it is a tight squeeze. The cooktop had four burners and was basically just a regular cooktop. Nice big microwave above it. On the opposite wall, on the cabinet next to the refrigerator, they had the BEST toaster oven I have ever used...it baked like a regular oven. Also, a coffee pot and toaster were on that cabinet. There wasn't a whole lot of counter space as a result, but we didn't need much for the seafood we ate all the time.

One fun thing I found there, you will see a stack of journals where previous guests jotted down their impressions and experiences while at the resort. It was fun to read through them.

We very much enjoyed an evening at a place called "The Edge" that was outside of Camden--maybe five or six miles from the resort. This place sits right on the water and apparently can be kind of pricey, but when we were there last year they were doing "gourmet pizza" night on Tuesday. You paid about $16 or so, and they gave you all the salad you wanted, and brought out about 7 or 8 different kinds of pizza. Some were kind of strange, but some were really great. It was a fun night. You need to make a reservation.

They had a wine and cheese party at the resort that was a lot of fun, too. Absolutely no sales pressure.

GREAT gym there. But we mainly got our exercise by hiking out to the lighthouse and back every day. Also, be sure to sign up for one of the golf cart tours if you'd like to check out the course and are not a golfer. They only do it a couple of nights a week. You get some incredible views from the golf course.

The only thing we did not like about the Samoset resort was the air conditioning. There was no central system in our unit--there was a wall air conditioner mounted on the bedroom wall with a vent piped into the living room. The air conditioner was very very very very very very noisy. If you are a light sleeper you are in trouble. Fortunately, the nights were cool enough that we were able to turn off the air and leave the patio door open, enjoying the fresh ocean air and the sounds of the foghorn.

Drat, now I wish we were going back this year!

        penguin,
We have stayed at the Samoset 4 times, and I agree with you about the journals...fun to read. Wonder if you read one of our entries!
By the way, the indoor pool is wonderful..
