  • Anyone else getting this kind of nonsense on the RCI site?

Ever since the "routine annual maintenance" all I seem to get are error messages, timed outs, etc. Here is the latest:

    Error 404--Not Found

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

    10.4.5 404 Not Found

The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.
If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

I see that 401 and 501 error all the time. Server trouble should be back up. Could also be if you have wireless you lost your connection.

I haven't had that happen but I'm on early.

I have actually found that the RCI site is working faster for me since this last all weekend long maintenance. Guess I'm just one of the lucky ones. At first after RCI last "fixed" their site last year I couldn't use it at all. Lately, no problems.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, BF, I wondered if it could be my connection, but I wasn't using wireless. I have had error messages of all sorts with the RCI site of late. Just wondered who else might be experiencing that. Guess I am just the lucky one.

I haven't noticed any of those errors. You're just special.

I'm having problems too. For example, I found a 2 BD Grand Pacific Palisades week for 9,000 points, check-in April 22; but when I try to hold the reservation or pay for it, the point value changes to 80,000.

The same thing happened with another resort: Palm Springs Tennis Club; 7,500 points changed to 43,500 points when I tried to confirm.

I had a similar problem last night.

It's difficult for me to call RCI in the morning as I'm always in a rush to get to work. And I can't call at work because I'll be on the phone so long. It's very frustrating!

As far as the technical aspects of it working, it is for me. I just logged on, did my 4 daily searches, and was done in less than five minutes.

It has not not worked recently.

This subject has been discussed on TUG this past month. It seems the glitchy RCI system is trying to charge high points for all Instant Exchanges that should be 9K points. At least I have lots of points in our account and can reserve the week and call in the next day for confirmation. Others have a limited number of points and cannot get the weeks they see. I guess they need to contact opkansas for more points! See Madge's answers on the ask RCI threads on TUG.

Figured I should chime in since the last 2 replies are VERY familiar names

RCI's site seems to react rather badly to high-volume. When at work early in the morning here (EST + 1), runs like a top.

In my evening (= primetime in the West), the Exchanging/Depositing sections are sluggish.

Probably more of an application or database connectivity issue.
