Did you know that when you release a resort on hold that is then lowers the trading power of your week? I have been searching for Orlando the first full week of August - and I admit I have release over 10 time. Today a VC called as told me that I have one on hold at the Sheraton Vistana. Also in reviewing the account he as about why I had released so much. I explained that I was trying to get the best place that I could without restricting myself to listing certain resorts. He said that after a few releases (1-3) the trading power is lowered!!!!!! Mine is considerably lowered due to the number of times I have released a resort on hold.

Also, since WorldMark owners get to "search first" without having to deposit a week, our pull-power never gets lowered...
Another advantage of being a WorldMark owner...WorldMark Owners - Take back our club! |Email me at ts4ms@kapeesh.com as it is easier for me to respond than Private Messages. | Exchanges:Disney's Old Key West (Orlando), Four Seasons Aviara (Carlsbad, CA), Marriott Timber Lodge (Tahoe), Tahiti Resort & HGVC/Strip (Las Vegas), Wyndham Flagstaff, Star Island Resort (Kissimmee) & Pono Kai (Kauai). Marriott Newport Coast (CA)

The whole thing sounds like hogwash to me....I had several holds during an on-going search and never experienced a down grade in trade power. I didn't get what I wanted in the end but people would have killed for my "settle for".
When are you looking for? <2007 is a done deal with even the best trader, 2008 has some decent stuff, 2009 is the best bet>
What are you using to search? When did you bank the week?
SO many questions.
BTW I'm going to move this to the RCI forum.Lawren

I am using a Woodstone week 25 - 2 bedroom unit that was banked over a year ago. I have released some good resorts because of various reasons. HGVC because I thought my Sister In-law was going so we would need a 3 bedroom and not the 2 bedroom that I released. OLCC because it was the west section and I have read to much about how badly the treat exchangers now. Of course there is Seville and Westgate that I release too. Guess I will be sticking with Sheraton which is a 2 bedroom sleep 8/6. Should I ask for a specific area? We do have a daughter that is handicapped so we don't need to walk up and down stairs.
I might add that the reason I am so late in exchanging for this summer vacation is because we were planning on going to Oahu and staying on the MCAS, but with so many going to Iraq and bringing their families over to Hawaii there was not any available. I was told that unless you are standing at the registration counter at 12 midnight you probally would not get a cottage, because they don't answer the phone calls until everyone waiting has been taken care of. The earliest they take bookings is 60 days in advance...... so now I am scrambling to get a vacation. I was going to resort to a cruise, but DH said no.

According to Madge, of Ask RCI fame o/y, your trading power is locked in at time of deposit. The VC was just trying to scare you so he/she could earn a little commission.
However, if you release a confrimed hold close to the expiration of your week (w/in 60 days I think) then your TP will go down.

I will start another thread in Florida forum and we will see what your options are for Sunday check-in at Vistana. This is an 8/6. Vistana Villages ? Which resort ID is it?
I do not follow Orlando closely but I know Vistana is very well regarded. Close to the mouse. Great pools etc.Lawren
