So. the phone rings and it's RCI asking me if I'm interesred in depositing my 2008 Nantucket Mariner House Summer week........... and I said, "You mean the one that I deposited with you three moths ago ? Do you mean the one that in your records shows an ongoing search, allegedly ? Don't tell me that this disconnect of yours is going to cost me three lost months "
The nice youmg man apologized and said that the ongoing search was there against the 2008 deposit. He said, "these things happen some times".

That sound you heard in the background at the end of the call was the young man zipping up his pants after they had fallen off.

This happens to me all the time. I am constantly asked if I want to deposit a week that is already deposited and searching. I'm so used to it, I didn't even think about it anymore!!

You'd better start thinking about it, because what it means is that your week isn't searching for anything.

I always know if my weeks are searching or not!

I had a very good Guide last week. I canceled one exchange and booked another for the same date with the same week I used for the first exchange.

Of course, that process involved putting the new exchange on Hold with another week, canceling the first exchange, and then substituting the week used for it for the week on Hold.

She was even kind enough to ask if I realized that that was a later week than another one I have Spacebanked.

She didn't even have to ask a supervisor how to do it.

Well online they sure look like they are searching. And when I remind the guide that I have already deposited the week...he looks and then suddenly notices it. I think they just call people from a script without really looking at their account details first....

And they seem shocked! shocked!! that someone would actually use a timeshare week instead of exchanging it.

They are telemarketers, I believe. They never call us for depositing exchanges but they call us for cruises constantly. They are just doing their job and may make no money until someone buys a cruise or does an exchange. A job like that must be so frustrating with a guaranteed minimum wage so I try to be polite and ask how they are doing and they often sigh.

Whenever I call they say they notice I haven't deposited my 2008 weeks yet. My response? Don't you have to pay the mf's first? Or do you want to? shaggy

Sometimes I say yes when they want a deposit and I haven't paid the fee yet. So far they have always made that deposit. If they call about one of my weeks that's currently suspended from RCI, I'll tell them sure and see just what they do.

One of the things you need to keep in mind about all this.

You already know all about how RCI is screwing the living daylights out of timeshare owners, right?

It stands to reason that they probably do exactly the same with their workforce as well.

I recently booked a great exchange via RCI for 2009. So RCI sent me their standard 'Valuable resources for your trip to.....' email saying how 'we must be very excited while busily preparing for your trip to.....'

I guess the marketing people must not take vacations because I am not too busy preparing for a trip in 2009. Or they are just really excited for me and cannot contain their enthusiasm. Or.....
