  • RCI Closed for part of the weekend & NO Web access

    On Saturday, September 8th, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. EST RCI’s Member Services offices will be closed for regularly scheduled maintenance. We will resume our normal business hours on Monday, September 10th, 2007 at 7:00 a.m. EST.

    Additionally, Weeks members will not be able to access their online account starting on Saturday September 8th at 8:48 p.m. EST to Sunday September 9th at 9.00 p.m. EST

      "Regularly scheduled maintenance" my foot! UNLESS, they have finally come to accept that they usually break things horribly with these *scheduled maintenance* sessions and are now deciding to do some expectations management.

      Re-reading, it merely says the offices are closed, and then the blurb about online access for Weeks members. Curious - is it possible that the Points side is maintenance-free? Gee, that would be a coup!

        We'll see. I'll try and access with my Points account tomorrow night and report back. I suspect I won't be able to access. Previous to last year when the 2 websites were separate, I could access with my Points account when I couldn't with my Weeks account. Since they combined the two, I've had trouble accessing with my Points account when they do these "fixes"

          I'm interpreting the message from RCI rather differently to some here.
          It states that the office will be closed from Saturday evening to Monday morning, but the Weeks system will be down for roughly 24 hours from Saturday evening. These timescales make perfect sense to me as I have been directly involved in large building powerdowns in the past.
          My assumption is that there is major work being undertaken which required the power to be switched off for a period. That being the case, the computers will be powered back on as soon as possible after the power is restored. That gives time for the almost inevitable hardware glitches to be ironed out before staff occupy the building again.
          If the offices are without power until Sunday evening it makes sense to build in some contingency and keep staff out until 'normal working hours' on Monday morning.
          As for accessing the Points system - again nothing sinister if the Points system is hosted off a different computer system at a different location.
          I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will come up with a totally different explanation.

            I made sure to print out all my current confirmations for upcoming vacations. I'm not taking the chance that they will get lost in the overhaul.

              Perhaps that Exchange Plus Cash option will reappear.

                I can sign in on my Points account but can't do anything as it freezes up. So the systems change is impacting both sides, Weeks & Points.

                    Geez, Keith, go inject some reasonable speculation and ruin our fun!! Nah, I think you're prob'ly right. Whole building outage is mighty reasonable. splains a lot.

                    I can't log in to RCI at all right now, Weeks side. Home page comes up, but errors on logging in. Hardly matters, since I don't have anything on deposit there right now... I can, however, browse the resort directory so it's not totally offline.

                        Shoot, wish I'd thought of that. Last time they did a "scheduled maintenance", the resort names on all my confirmations were wrong. Resort numbers were right, but the names were completely screwy. I almost had a heart attack!!

                        And yes, I bet it will be hit and miss to get in until the middle of the week.

                          Got into the Points side

                          I was able to log in and search on the Points resorts. I couldn't search for Weeks resorts using points though. Saw some decent stuff.

                            Weeks side seems to be up and running. I'm still waiting for my newly deposited week to be confirmed so I have nothing to search with, can't tell if there's anything different there.

                            My confirmed exchanges all look right, unlike last time.
