    Trade Test

I ran this hurriedly about 10:45 am this morning. I have 3 weeks that I'll describe as Poor (MT. Amanzi) Poorer (Blue O/C winter holday week) and Poorest (Blue O/C non-holiday week). My test showed what I expected:

08 Orlando OLCC 09 Orlando OLCC

    Poor 24 11 9 16

    Poorer 19 7 7 13

    Poorest 14 2 3 0

Key: Orlando is the total different resorts. OLCC is a combined total of each different OLCC units available during that time period.

ps. Sorry numbers ran together. When I display to edit it shows them under correct heading. Anybody know how to spread them out?

I usually blast them for handing out deposits like candy and if they are not gone in a few months they end up in extra vacations as excess inventory at sometimes every low prices.

July is high demand everywhere. They should be saving this inventory for folks who come along later with a comparable week and not just giving them out because they are early.

Maybe there is some hope for those of us that start looking at 4-10 months out when we have set our schedule for the year.

      Short
You may be getting your wish.

I only have two problems with the changes that I am seeing.

One. That most people have bought under false pretenses and high presure from salespeople with the promise that they can trade anywhere at anytime. To take away the ability to trade into even the overbuilt locations during holiday demand periods seems unjust.

One B. I also believe a 2BDRM July week in W'Burg is a like for like trade for a 2BDRM summer in Orlando. So if the formula has changed why hasn't RCI changed the weighting for those types of deposits? Whys should a SA week pull everything all summer long?

Two. The veil of secrecy that RCI operates under. As long as we KNOW what is going to happen in a timely fashion we can adjust our mindset and expectations and make changes. The way things are being done today is not acceptable. The only RCI experience we have to rely upon is ourselves.

There are people still swearing up down and sideways that a blue week can pull things in Orlando or W'Burg in peak periods. I say that is no longer a given. It can be done but not as easily as in the past.

My current rant is pointing out that not only is the more luxe stuff going missing but that the gimmes of yesterday are fast approaching that line as well.

I also sometimes wonder if RCI gives the very best exchanges to the Wyndham or WorldMark members
My experience with Wynfield deposits is "sort of, but not really." We seem to have a very strong internal preference for other Wynfield resorts. But, the Wynfield points deposits are between bluest-of-the-blue and barely-mediocre when trying to pull other resort systems or independents.

WorldMark might be doing better, I don't know.

The RCI rants to me are extremely annoying and not productive anymore. Why are you still with RCI? Are you dim-witted or a glutten for punishment? It seems all you experts agree that RCI doesn't know shit from Shinola so why are you all so attached? From what I read on these pages, there should be no need to discuss or in anyway be affiliated with RCI. Should be just one icon that you click on that says "dump RCI"

I, too , use RCI because I have to vacation during school breaks. I don't have anything that SFX will take. My resorts don't trade through II. I find that the independents are not great for resorts by my home ( also in the northeast) during prime time. I think they would be wonderful if I wanted to go to Mexico, out west, or in shoulder season. RCI is the one that best suits my needs right now.

It is not mandatory.....we can use any exchange company we want. But if I really want to see the good inventory it is still mostly in RCI, owners are helped by the 1 in 4 rule, and we get a discount via RCI although that is not adding up to much considering how much RCI keep increasing its prices.

Do I give RCI my best GPR summer fixed weeks....no way. I can rent those or use them. But I can trade my other weeks for GPR weeks and that is the main reason I keep RCI around along with the fact that I have membership until 2013.

I even read somewhere that if you own multiple Hyatt resorts, you pay multiple exchange fees too. This is absolutely ridiculous and certainly if you do not exchange. JMHO. I am glad that the Marriott gives us the choice to belong or not to belong to II and I hope it will stay that way.

I also sometimes wonder if RCI gives the very best exchanges to the Wyndham or WorldMark members and next in line come RCI point members of other resorts and after that what is left over? Just a question here and no accusation.

Oh, I even annoyed myself with my post but I did learn from yours and other replies about the situations some of you are in. I guess the reason I read RCI rants is the same reason I watch political trashing...just testing to see if I still have blood preasure.

I read this thread with interest as i found out that my pre-06 tigerish week (which got me July 2 br Island Park, July 4th 3 br GC HHI and Manhattan club) turned in to dog from 07 (OK, more accurately a moderate according to this thread).

One minor oddity I noticed on the Orlando 09 search is that I can see plenty of July OLCC north village and one July week or East Village, but 0 for West Villiage. I guess I shouldn't expect RCI to make sense.

One question for Wackymother: could you see your own summer Williamsburg week ? I could never see mine (big cedar July) or any July weeks at the resort from the first day of deposit. Of course ongoing search is always a possibility.

Yes, I could see my summer Williamsburg week when it was first deposited. I could definitely see 2brs and 1brs at that resort for that week. The 2br was taken within the first week or so, and now there are no 1brs for that week either. I think I had a week 30 and all that's showing for me now are week 29 and earlier.
