Question about RCI cancellation policy

I currently have a reservation in for Pueblo Bonito in Mazatlan for week of 3/3/08. I saw several sightings for week of 3/8 and 3/10. When I called RCI and said I wanted to change weeks, they advised that they didnt
have any weeks available and the only thing they could do is put in another search with other week I have banked for $199 and if one became available, I would have to pay a cancellation fee of $119 on original week. Does this sound right???? Are there any alternatives to
to accomplish change of date of check in at same resort without paying cancellation fee??? This same scenario happened back in 2004 at same
resort where something came up and I had to change reservations by a week and I dont remember having to pay anything to do so. Appreciate
any feedback on above.

Keep calling as soon as you see something posted on exchange opportuities. You may get a rep that will do it for you.

I have only had to call once and cancel because I was wrong about the school break week and they did not charge me to switch week and book a different resort in Sedona. That was about 10 months out.

I think I remember you had trouble getting them to give you this particular exchange though, so you may have used up the favor pool in this instance if they have a note on your records that an overide was used.

Thanks, Lawren....VC did say it was a $119 cancellation fee from six to two months out
and then full exchange cost 60 days or less to check in...You are correct about having to use an override because my dog of a trader
couldnt pull up any weeks at this resort. I will continue to call until I book my plane reservations...Nothing to loose, right????

Can't hurt but I wouldn't push it for the same size unit...
