  • Is it worth joining RCI for their rentals?

A recent post has me giving this a thought. I just am not sure that it's even worth it. I have a resort that is dual affiliated with both II, and RCI. I wouldn't actually deposit into RCI, since I am extremely happy with it's performance in II. However, I think that I could join RCI, with this resort.

    So, is it worth it?

    Thanks for any insight!

Well, I did that, Angela, thinking I could use the last call things. But I never see anything in Ca. or Az. which is what I would use. It may work better for you since you are on the other coast. I let my membership expire after only one year. I never got one single call from them. A few e-mails but nothing else.

They offer long term discounts if you purchase a gazillion year contract.

3 years ago my answer would have been different you know.

Why pay a membership fee when there are so MANY ways to get an RCI rental?

                  Lawren,

I'm aware of many of the rental sites. I just didn't know if RCI was offering more options then those sites, or if they would appear on RCI, before the other sites.

They don't appear any earlier on RCI.

I believe RCI was also offering a deal a while back where you could be a "guest" on someone else's account, for the sole purpose of perusing Extra Vacations.. does anyone remember the cost involved in that?

I belong to RCI and so far I've never used it for rentals.

The RCI Guest Pass* is a great idea if you have purchased multiple Guest Certificates for the same person in the past, or if you know someone who might enjoy the benefits of timeshare resorts.

The Guest Pass allows you to add someone to your account and they will have the ability to confirm Last CallSM and Extra Vacations on their own! You no longer need to call on their behalf, nor do you have to buy a Guest Certificate each time.

As an added bonus, your Guests can access your exchange week too. All you need to do is give permission with a simple call to an RCI Guide. Best of all, no Guest Certificate fee will be charged. **
The RCI Guest Pass is simple. Your guests help themselves and you save time and money!

                        5-year Guest Pass: $149.00 USD
                        10-year Guest Pass: $249.00 USD

It isn't a bad idea if this also includes exchanges.

I can't seem to find it currently offered on the RCI site though. So maybe it died.

It does include the GC fee on exchanges. So $30/year more than pays for itself with one transaction per year since the GC fee is now up to $59 (I think).

                            We cross posted.

I went back to the original e-mail from RCI dated Tue, 13 Mar 2007 . The link no longer works so I'm pretty sure they killed this program off. They were probably losing money on the offer.

II does not has enough last call inventory? How many extra week you expect you can use per year? Then what % you believe you want give your business to RCI?

Since you already have II, I will try some of the independent exchange company like DAE. the membership fee is free. The LC price is cheaper than RCI. The quality is the same as you will expect to get from RCI last call.
