I can understand RCI, or any exchange company renting last minute deposits, or hard to exchange weeks, weeks that have sat around with no takers, etc. But to get a week, and immediately put it up for rent before it was available to exchange for a reasonable period of time, just seems wrong to me.
Several RCI employees who have posted on various sites, including Bootleg here and Anon at Timesharetalk, have said they could trace on their RCI computers many prime deposits that were given as spacebank deposits unconnected to any other non-timeshare item that were immediately placed by RCI into their rental pool at the time of deposit. Another RCI employee at Timesharetalk actually posted screen shots from RCI's computer showing this.

Also from looking at the rentals that have come through from RCI at a particular resort, ALL of the rentals were during periods when there is more demand than supply, so it could not be termed excess inventory, and all came from member deposits since the resort is sold out and does not bank HOA weeks with RCI.
