  • 1 and 4 1 and 5 rule

My spy tells me that more resorts are changing to 1 and 5 from 1 and 4 and more properties are going that way

Scott I'm going to move this over to the RCI Forum, since it is not an exchange opportunity. I think we will get more discussion about this there.

It went from 1 and 3 to 1 and 4 and now to 1 and 5. They want you to visit the resort and are trying to make you buy if you want to go back. Using different exchange companies is the way around this rule.

Another way around it is using Points for an exchange. According to Madge, RCI did not agree with any resorts to enforce a 1-in-X rule for Points exchanges.

As someone exchanging in, these kind of restrictions are actually helpful in that they (artificially) reduce the exchange demand. There are those who would otherwise attempt an exchange but cannot (or think they cannot).

I think the ONLY 1-in-3 is OLCC.

Too many palces to go to let 1-in-x bother me, although that GPP cadre in SCal is annoying. Then I just use an Independent.

I thought the exemption from 1-in-4 only applied if you were exchanging INTO a Points resort (not crossover exchanges, or "raiding of the weeks system" as it's sometimes lovingly labled )? In other words, using my Points account, I thought I could exchange into Carlsbad Seapointe (Points resort) as often as I wanted, but only 1-in-4 to Carlsbad Inn (Weeks resort)???

How is 1 in x tracked? Is it by member name or by account number? Let's say I booked a resort using my RCI points account weeks side in 2007, can I book another week with my RCI weeks account for 2008? The RCI points and RCI weeks accounts are totally separate accounts with different account numbers. Thanks for any input.

You're correct. For some reason, I was thinking of OLCC. Since OLCC switched to the dark side (Points), it is now possible to skirt the 1-in-3. The restriction is still in place when raiding Weeks.

                    Matter?

Since RCI seems to be renting out the better stuff, does it really matter?
