  • Interesting Orlando Observation - Discussion welcome

this may be one of the more telling differences about what is going on at RCI.

Parameters. search 10 weeks from 13Jun09, Orlando area 2BDRMs

With a moderate trader I saw 10 resorts. 3 of which I would stay in if someone was making me go to Orlando. I saw NO OLCC with the exception of a late Aug West Village. I saw all summer long at both Cypress Pointe phases but that was the VRI preference kicking in .

With a Tiger I saw 28 resorts. All of the above plus all the OLCC villages and Sheraton Vistana.

With a complete dog I saw only 6 resorts. none of the above. Out of those I'd stay at VV Parkway (which I did see with the other tests).

Searching Points against weeks with the same exact parameters I saw only 13 resorts. No OLCC, No VV PKWY but all the CPR & CPG weeks

I looked with a "moderate" non-rated week 27 2br trader and saw 13 resorts but no OLCC, Sheraton or HGVC. Interesting that it saw more than your moderate but not the "good" resorts.

Sounds like you got the "points" results.

OLCC is only Weeks with RCI. They have gone to their own point system, but you have to buy-in.

I am surprised that there aren't more for the low to medium traders over the hot and humid summer. We were there the end of July one year and it was terrible.

So what do we conclude here? That tigers are getting more and more tigery, and everything else, including points, is getting more doggy?

It does not matter. I was searching WEEKS with points. Technically I should have seen everything the tiger saw, or at least that is my understanding.

NO OLCC unless you are trading a tiger in? Who would do that? and Points I would have thought would see them all but doesn't.

RCI is really screwing people over if Orlando, the most overbuilt timeshare area in the known universe, is this tough to get 16 months out. and you KNOW they aren't rewarding orlando traders with increased trading value in return.

Yes, we were talking about this with Williamsburg, too. My high-summer Williamsburg weeks trade moderate-minus in RCI. But I feel like my 2007 weeks traded significantly stronger than my 2008 weeks.

I shudder to think what I would see if I were putting in a shoulder-season week instead of a week 28 or week 29. Or...would I see the same as I do now? I bet I would. Hmm.

                Our good trader is seeing:

A Total of 27 Resorts were found for FLORIDA/FLORIDA: ORLANDO AREA

Including River Island, 3-bedroom units, etc.

Our devalued trader, the same week, but neutered, is seeing:

A Total of 14 Resorts were found for FLORIDA/FLORIDA: ORLANDO AREA

Scrape off the outer crust, the top layer, and that's what it's seeing.

Now, for a really easy trade, Branson for 1/1/09, our good trader is seeing:

A Total of 16 Resorts were found for CENTRAL U.S./MISSOURI: BRANSON AREA

and the neutered one is seeing:

A Total of 15 Resorts were found for CENTRAL U.S./MISSOURI: BRANSON AREA

Like I said to you in an email yesterday, the easier the trade, the less trading power difference there appears to be. And vice versa.

Which, albeit unusual for RCI, makes sense.

                  Test. test.

I tried to post some comparative searches, and my conclusions, which I shared by email yestersay, and got a message saying it would appear when a Moderator approves it.

I just posted on another board, Computers, with no problem.

With my moderate and seasoned deposit I get 10 2 BR (including 2 Cypress Pointe).....with my fresh deposit of a 2008 weak trader, I get 6 (no Cypress). This is for 2009 search.

On the other hand, a 2008 search, same date one year earlier:
moderate trader: 19 (includes OL and HGVC)
                    weak: 10

That's not correct. When they went to their own system, RCI did deem them to be an RCI Points resort. They are listed that way online on the Points side.

Lawren, that's not correct. When searching weeks with points, you will only see non-points affiliated resorts. Dual weeks/points resorts can only be seen with a Weeks account (either standard Weeks or secondary Weeks account that is linked to your Points account).

                        Confused yet?

This is a test, only a test.

As an aside, at II there is almost zippo for June 09 in Orlando.

OK I didn't relaize that OLCC was considered a points resort. We ran into the same issue with HGVC South Beach.

Now explain to me why weeks sees some deposits for St George's Club in Bermuda and Points sees different weeks but can't see the weeks deposits. We are talking April and July weeks for this year...

As it should be with Search First (Deposit Last), as an insider called it, a failed system.

How can you see something that has not been deposited, which was not deposited because the exchange company discouraged it?
