I just put 4 rooms on hold for Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay for this summer. We have up to 6 families that want to go but I can only hold for. It says that a GC is required with more than 2 rooms but If I am there can I not take care of this at the front desk?

Frank RCI has always maintained that if you were checking in to the same resort at the same time a GC is NOT required. The money does not go to the resort. I'd work it out at the desk.

You know its very humid there in the summertime, right? If you decide to go, make sure you bring a lot of loose cotton clothes, and sports shirts, not t-shirts.

yes I know but we are trying to give all or kids a real nice HS graduation present by taking them to a super nice place so that they can all be together. The kids have been together since pre K. Now there off to collage They all will be in the pool most of the time.

So, since RCI maintains that it's not required as a general rule, then it is the resort that is requiring this as Sales Hocus Pocus to get you to buy. I'd be careful about this.

            How do you figure that?
The GC is $59/per that goes directly into RCI's coffers. RCI has always said it wasn't needed if the account holder was present.

Even if Frank slips them a $20 at check-in he's way ahead of the game.

It is RCI that is suspect here. Not the resort.

Now the 1-in-4 rule I'd agree with you. That is a sales ploy.

I disagree, this, from reading what Frank posted, is a ploy in addition to 1in4 to get you to think owning there is a benefit. Yes, RCI gets some measly GC fees but it's the perception of the unknowing member - (s)he doesn't know where the money goes, it's just more money.

Maybe. It is an oddly worded Urgent Info even for RCI. GCs 1-in-4 AND an Area block. Got them all.

How many people book 4 or more units in this place to even generate that verbiage?

I can't even make it through the warning. What the heck does all that mean?

What it means, then what it really means. What it really seems to mean is: "You're screwed, buddy!"

                              What it means:

A lot of these things are RCI only and resort specific. This one has the 1-in-4,and a rule saying you can't have more than 4 consecutive or concurrent weeks. If you have more than 2 you need a GC. It has an area block. So if you own in Maz you can't trade in unless you are doing an internal exchange from the other PB. THEN you can only have 2 consecutive or concurrent weeks and still require a GC after 2 and can't get more than a studio on bonus time.

What it REALLY means is this resort must have had serious problems with people picking up tons of weeks cheap on bulkbanks and living there and that they are probably in an agressive sales mode. They will use all of the above warnings to empathize how hard it is to trade there and that you need to buy it.
