I have money in my RCI Account, how do I get it out? I seems like whenever I put an exhange on hold, I have to give my credit card number and it doesn't come out of the account. Then if I cancel, it goes into my account.

I want to understand this......because I had money and then it "disappeared" - when I questioned it - I was told I was wrong....there was no money there.
But here it is again...
My friends account - who has an ongoing search in for Cancun 2007
Your opening Exchange Balance is $0.00
Your Subscribing Membership is paid through 4/2007
My account - I have an ongoing search for Europe in 2007
Your opening Exchange Balance is $189.00
Your Subscribing Membership is paid through 2/2009
so should I call RCI and ask them to credit me $189 ???
They keep telling me the balance will "disappear" when they fill my request.

I have discussed RCI/Cendant's money policies with them for years.
Why does it take new money to do a transactions online? Why can't we use credit balances in our account?
They now finally have it to where we can redeem RCI Elite Rewards points and get credits in our account, but we still can't use that online. I redeemed points for a $200 credit not long ago, and that has never appeared on-line. We did an exchange and the Guide could see it, but I still can't see the $51 that should still be there.
Why does it take money to start a search, before an actual purchase is made? Why not have a credit card on file and charge it when a purchase (confirmation) is made? That is one reason why we do not do ongoing searches, the other being that we have learned to not trust them.
Why are charges instantaneous, appearing on your credit card statement immediately, while credits do not? Of course, they are not the only company that takes your fast and gives it back slowly.
You would think they are keeping records on an abacus!
Talk about coincidences, just this morning I asked Inside Guy what percentage of transactions are done on-line. He told me, but said many do not get completed on-line. Perhaps one reason is that you have to call to use a balance in your account. But, in order to assure that you don't lose something, you have to put it on Hold on-line, and that requires new money. When I have had to that in the past the Guides handling it having normally not been too friendly.
It reminds me of the old SNL skit where the two guys do something painful to themselves, like hit themselves in the head with a hammer, and then say, "I just hate when that happens."RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Originally posted by I-DE-HOYour acct. should show a balance of $189. You paid this amount when you started an ongoing search. When you eventually confirm an international exchange the $189 will disappear from the screen. Don't call them and ask for your $$ unless you want to cancel your ongoing search.

Also, in December and again in February, RCI started a trial program where they allowed members to start searches without charging the exchange fees.
Third scenario - A member has a search underway and appropriate fees on account. During the course of the search, the member calls RCI and asks about availability using another week in their spacebank. The guide says "Yes, there is a 2 bedroom in wherever, would you like to book that today?" The member accepts the exchange, the guide books the week using the fees already on account, leaving the member with a search and no fees on account.
There are, as you see, a number of ways that this can happen.

Originally posted by BootlegPat - Guides are supposed to collect the exchange fee from the member when they start a search. Occasionally they forget and a search goes in without the fees. If the member calls RCI, the next guide they speak to is supposed to collect the exchange fee but even they sometimes don't bother asking for the money.
