    ...ah, I feel better....

And yes, Lawren, you are certainly the guru with regard to RCI, and we bow before you.

The sad part is that many folks have not the slightest clue as to how the system is skewed, so they are at a great disadvantage....and truly, is that the way a company should treat its customers?

I have said for some time, RCI only needs us to pillage our ownerships....they don't need our $$$ for exchanges any more as they are making a bundle off selling our deposits outright. They only "need" us to use us.

While there may be weeks that become visible for some brief fleeting moment, there have been too many "quirks" in the system, too many holes where folks who have put in an ongoing search don't get the thing, and then they get sold something that is a real bad compromise for them.

The RCI model isn't about helping its customers, it is about selling, upselling, and twisting arms to fold to whatever they want to sell off as the "best match" we can find.

RCI doesn't care that a person bought into the TS model to hedge against inflation and to yield the "promise" of great vacations over your lifetime....they just view us as pigeons.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Not as often as in the past but still a few depending what you call decent.

Two to three years ago most trades were with RCI. Except for RCI Points for travel maybe only 25% to 33% of our exchanges are with RCI out of 10 to 15 yearly vacations.

Some (mostly Hawaii) through ongoing requests. The ones in La Jolla, San Diego and Whistler were just ones I found by doing some searching around. I've never used the sightings.

Well, when you start out with low expectations, it helps.

Well, the resort I use to trade with is such a "poor" trader (at least in my mind) that I'm always thrilled when it pulls anything decent. Plus, it's a one-bedroom and we usually need at least two, so when I can pull that, I'm excited.

Oh yeah, I also got a two-bedroom in Las Vegas last year over my younger dd's spring break.

That's brilliant, and oh so true.

I don't see why you don't think this is a great trader. I also have a SDCE 1BR and I have always considered it a tiger. I have never seen a sighting that I couldn't pull with mine. But, I only bank 4th of July weeks. I pulled a Carpe Diem Roma this June with it and have always pulled Hawaii whenever I wanted. I have a Kona Coast II for next May.

Back on subject: Other than the nonexistant trading power of my SA and the renting of space bank deposits I am generally Ok with RCI so far. BUT, the first time I fail to get the trade I want my opinion will take a big turn.

That is what turned me against RCI - or at least to disillusion me. My great trader couldn't pull anything - I called RCI FOUR times to ask for help - I asked the guide to look at the history of my 2 weeks (same resorts weeks 29 and 34) I said 'how come this week that has traded into the Manahattan Club 3 times and London and ireland and venice' now doesn't 'see' anything ????
No one had the answer or was inclined to help.
So now those weeks will be rented or go to II or SFX or DAE.....oh well

My membership with RCI just ran out and I am not renewing. It's hard to let it go after twelve years, but I don't believe in supporting their business practices. I have gotten good trades over the years, mostly because I hung out on the search page alot, found good weeks online and grabbed them, or I was willing to exchange for shoulder seasons and/or places with a lot of availablity like Branson, Williamsburg, Massanutten etc.

I told the rep I was letting the membership expire and she actually asked me in the next breath if I wanted to space bank my week? How did she imagine I would ever be able to use a spacebanked week when I was no longer a member?!

                          RCI Fees

Every time you look, the RCI fee has either increased or is an extra brand new fee!

I'm looking to the other exchanges for my future space banks.
