  • I am confused about points/weeks

I thought that I understood RCI points relatively well, but as of today I am very confused. I hope that someone might be able to enlighten me.
Using points account but searching weeks, I see availability at a resort. When I call in to RCI to book (I have a unit on hold for a different date and don't want to risk losing it, so can't do it on-line) they say that there is no availability and insist that it is not a trade power issue.
So, to summarize, the units show up on a weeks search on points but don't show up on weeks.

Interesting to say the least; I have points and weeks and can say that there are times when my tiger trader will not see something that is seen with points in weeks. There is neither rhyme nor reason. If you PM me I will check both points and weeks (tiger trader) to see what I can see.

DH and I are going out to dinner but I'll gladly do this when we get back.

        ahhhh
Sometimes I see weeks in POINTS BASED resorts that I cannot see with points.

Mary, Is this a points resort you are referring too?

That is Presidents week. I think there may be one unit left with a tiger. TThis is probably why you can seee it in points but not weeks.

If you were trying to book that week using a spacebanked week, then I would say it's definitely a trade power issue with your week. President's week can be booked from either side.

Thanks Gordon. I appreciate the info. I would fully have understood if it was a trade power issue, but 3 different VC's insisted that the unit was simply not available, nothing to do with trade power. The week on hold was the same week with a Sunday check-in, I know that those are easier to get.
I wish that I could trust the info I get from RCI. (Don't we all.) Whenever I said that I knew the week was available because I could see it with points, they all go into "Oh no there is no correlation between weeks and points " mode, not understanding that you can see weeks inventory with points. Frustrating.

As I told someone else this morning who wanted one of those Charleston weeks, keep calling until you get the right answer!
