It's just not enough time to get ready. Also our town has a nice fireworks display that we don't really like to miss.

I don't see all of our friends hot-footing it out of town that week, either--mostly they're trying to persuade us to come to THEIR town's fireworks display!
I waffle back and forth on this one. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have a little time after the kids are out of school before the packing and planning (plus, we do two kids birthday parties in June so we have enough going on!). But on the flip side, we decided to take the last week of June for a holiday to Massanutten this year because we had the feeling that we would be anxious to get away and might try to avoid any July 4 crowds at the resort. I have no idea if this will work - it may be packed the last week of June. I guess we'll see.

We will be going to Canada for a few weeks in August as well so maybe we are getting the best of both worlds.

No wonder there are so many June 1 to 15 exchanges available in the NE. And boy do I feel sorry for your kids for having to go to school so late in June. I would have died if I had to go to school pass Memorial Day when I grew up.

Mike, we don't go back until after Labor Day, so we enjoy the last two weeks in August instead... can you say Hot and Humid? Of course you can, you're from Texas

On the RCI front, things are looking up, I threw back the first match for my newly restricted request today (Ocean City, Club Ocean Villas II).

Oh, yeah. There are a lot of heart-rending sightings during June in the Northeast. Places that you can't exchange into in July or August for love or money.

Your kids get out of school before Memorial Day???? Wow.

Yes, we have the last two weeks of August off here. I thought that's the "traditional" school year, late June to just after Labor Day.

We often go to the Poconos the very last week of the (Northeast) summer--week 34. It's so, so quiet there then. All the summer places are still open but it's not very crowded. I think sensible people are going home and getting ready for the new school year.

We went to Gatlinburg during week 34 last year. Ghost town. It was wonderful.
