RCI Points for Hawaii and Italy, - realistically?

Hi,
I have an opportuinity to join RCI points as a full owner of my condo. I'm in a gold crown resort in mexico, and I fully own. But to join RCI, I have to pay $1250 for a five year membership. (this is becuase some of that is going to my resort for overhead)
In return I will get an enormous amount of points (for three weeks deposited, I'll get roughly 187,000 points.

My question is, is it realstic to hope on getting a week in Maui (anywhere) for the end of October 08? or 1 to two weeks in Italy Tuscany? in May 09'. These are semi-off peak times of travel, but RCI won't quote me availabiltiy without already being joined.

So could I please beg somoene with an RCI account to see if any of these resorts are avaible in Hawaii or Italy - or at least I know I'm wasting my time! Thx.

Now, using RCI points, the points resorts won't show in a weeks search, you can only book them as points resorts.

The Pahio Ka'Eo Kai for example a 2 bedroom week is 86500 points, the Poipu at the Point will be about 52500 points, it isn't a points resort

I don't know if I would pony up $1250 plus the annual fee and the trade fees to RCI in the hopes of getting a good value in return.

RCI Points allows you to book Points-participating properties starting 10 months in advance, and non-Points-participating properties starting 2 years in advance.

I had no trouble booking, 10 months in advance, Pahio at the Shearwater (Kauai) for an August 30 week and Il Poggio (Tuscany) for a May 3 week.

I've never tried Maui, but it appears those are all non-Points-participating properties, so you may find it too late to obtain May 2009 availability if people reserved ahead of you starting in May 2007.

You mentioned paying to join RCI Points. One consolation is if you're already paying dues for RCI Weeks, those will be refunded to you (RCI Points members get a free RCI Weeks account which they need to book the non-Points-participating properties).

this is great insight to availbility. I couldn't get this from RCI. As far as ROI, I don't think I need to pay an annual fee for the $1250. My understanding is the only additional I pay is the exchange fee. I'm not apart of weeks or anything like that. but this is great info! Thank you ALL!!
