  • Warning RCI Journals expiring

    March 06, 2006

    Dear Valued RCI Community Member:

On April 3, 2006 RCI Community members will no longer be able to post journals or redeem credits on the RCI Community Website,rcicommunity.com. Alternatively, you have an option so you will not lose your journals, community profiles, or credits.

Upon your request, we will transfer your journals and credits over to an affiliate site, IgoUgo.com, a popular travel community on the Web. You must elect to transfer your account first and then just sign in at IgoUgo.com using your RCI Community member name and password to get started. Your Community Credits will then be converted into Go Credits. Once you elect to transfer your account to IgoUgo, you will then have a direct legal relationship with IgoUgo.

As a special welcome for all RCI Community members, IgoUgo.com will be giving away a fantastic weeklong resort vacation to five lucky RCI Community winners who sign in between April 4, 2006 and May 15, 2006.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the RCI Community Web site, feel free to contact us at:

1-800-338-7777 if you are a Weeks member or
1-877-968-7476 if you are a Points member.

Thank you for your continued support,
    The RCI Team

Yea, I got that email also. Haven't looked yet on how to do the transfer.
I've looked a bit at IGOUGO it looks like it has some good features.
The one thing that I am not sure what it means in the RCI email is the line that says: "....you will then have a direct legal relationship with IgoUgo."
Is there plans in the future for IGOUGO to have pay features? Or does RCI just want to get rid of that part of their WEB site and made this alliance to do that?

I just got this email a few minutes ago, too. Since I like to redeem my credits for AA miles, I wanted to make sure IgoUgo had the same kind of redemptions as RCI Community. They do, so I emailed them and requested all my credits and journals to be transferred. Do we need to call them instead?

What credits are we talking about? The ones from the RCI Visa or Master Card?

HMmmm? Good point could be both. Maybe they sold our rights to Igougo without telling us.
Boot any inside info on this?

Trish I did not look into the transfer yet. I am now holding off until we get some more information.

I could care less. I wasn't about to give free content to a publicly traded Wall Street company like Cendant anyway. Whatever floats your boat, I always say!

IGOUGO powered the RCI community website from Day One. The credits, which are in the upper corner of the screen, are accumulated whenever you submit a journal about travel or a visit to a resort.

The credits seem to be fairly worthless, you have to have a gazillion of them to get an RCI ballcap.

You see, it is best not to ally with the evil empire.

While I don't have "gazillion" of credits, I have been able to redeem my credits twice for 5,000 AA miles each time. I don't feel like they've been worthless. As a matter of fact, I lack 1325 points for my third redemption. I still have a journal that hasn't been rated, yet. If they would rate this journal, it would put me over (or right at) the 25,000 credit goal, which would enable me to redeem for AA miles again.

Bootleg, can you give us anymore info? Will they be reviewing pending journals before the transfer? From the email, it sounds like we still can be able to redeem our credits... just as long as it is before April 3rd. Is that correct? And lastly, but certainly not least, why are they doing this?

                    TIA~

Actually, at this time, the format will remain pretty much the same. Everything will just be tranferred to the IgoUgo website.

I just transferred everything over. I will say it was painless fast and very simple. You just log into the www.Igougo.com sight with your RCI community email address and password on IGoUgo. Then put a check in the box to transfer everything over and you are done.

I did the exact same thing. I have also redeemed my points (through IgoUgo) for 5,000 AA miles on 3/14th. Let me say, they are MUCH quicker than RCI Community. My AA miles have already posted!!!!

I logged in but it didn't take me. Do I have to register? I am a member of the RCI community but had nothing posted. Is that why I have to register? Please, help.

                            TIA.

                              A-I fees and RCI Community

The only time I went into the RCI community was checking out the A-I fees. Will they go over to IgoUgo too?
